Animal Control

Responsibilities

We investigate a wide range of complaints, including barking dogs, animal bites, and animal abuse complaints.

Animal Control Officers may issue a summons for violations of City Ordinance or State law. By working to help the public have a thorough understanding and compliance of these laws, we promote the safety and well-being of animals and improve relations between animal owners and the general public.

Sheltering & Adoption

The City of Pittsburg has a sheltering contract with the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter to house animals picked up. The City promotes adoption from this shelter and encourages neutering/spaying of pets.

Pittsburg joins the Titus County Shelter Friends (TCSF), Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter and the Humane Society of the United States in designating February to be Spay/Neuter Awareness Month each year.

Please visit the Titus County Shelter Friends Facebook page to see what dogs and cats are currently available for adoption.
