NOTICE

On January 17, 2017 the Mayor and City Council of the City of Pasadena adopted the International Fire Code - 2015 edition in its entirety inclusive of all amendments and appendices as well as all National Fire Protection Association current standards.

The new code took effect April 17, 2017.

The plans review division examines building plans to ensure compliance with the fire and life safety code. The Pasadena Fire Marshal's Office follows the guidelines of the International Fire Code 2015 edition, along with the guidelines of ALL CURRENT applicable National Fire Protection Association codes including NFPA Life Safety Code 101.

ALL AUTOMATIC FIRE SPRINKLER PLANS SUBMITTING SHALL INCLUDE A COPY OF THE OWNER’S INFORMATION CERTIFICATE AS REQUIRED BY NFPA 13 SECTION 4.3. PLANS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THIS INFORMATION.

ALL PLAN REVIEW SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY OUR PLAN REVIEW CHECKLIST. PLANS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT ALL ITEMS SUBMITTED.

PLANS SUBMITTED TO THE FIRE MARSHAL'S OFFICE FOR REVIEW SHALL INCLUDE ONE (1) HARD COPY SET AND ONE (1)  DIGITAL SET ON CD OR DVD MEDIA IN PDF FORMAT AS WELL AS A COPY OF INSURANCE COVERAGE AND CURRENT STATE LICENSE OF COMPANY AND INSTALLER.

All other plans submitted to the Fire Marshal’s Office for review shall be submitted to the City of Pasadena Permit office located at 1149 Ellsworth Drive, Pasadena, Texas 77506 (first floor). 713-475-5575

Fire Code


The adopted fire code for the City of Pasadena is the International Fire Code – 2015 edition with local amendments.

  • Local Amendment – In addition to the requirements of International Fire Code, Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems are required when the gross square footage of the building or structure exceeds 10,000 square feet.
  • Local Amendment - Fire-Flow Requirements for Buildings shall be as listed in Appendix B.
  • Local Amendment - Fire Hydrant Locations and Distribution shall be as listed in Appendix C.
  • Local Amendment - Fire Apparatus Access Roads shall be as listed in Appendix D.
