Code Enforcement

What is Code Enforcement?

The Pasadena Code Enforcement Department's primary function is to enforce the health, safety, housing and sanitation ordinances for combating neighborhood decay, (such as junk vehicles, dilapidated buildings, trash, debris and illegal dumping).

The department initiates inspections based on either physical observations or complaints. The department is also charged with ensuring the resident and business communities maintain their properties according to federal, state and local laws.

In order to accomplish this, our staff works with property owners for the compliance of violations or proceeds with legal action that will allow the City of Pasadena to eliminate the nuisance.

Typical Complaints Include:

  • Abandoned vehicles
  • Junk vehicles
  • High grass / weeds / brush
  • Trailers parked in roadway
  • Illegal donation containers
  • Bandit signs
  • Dangerous buildings
