Auto Crimes Division

The Auto Crimes Division is under the command of Lieutenant Joey McGill. There are six detectives assigned to this division which operates from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the personnel divided as needed to cover the ten hour time span of operation. Situations that require the services of an Auto Crimes detective outside normal business hours are handled on a "call-out" basis.

Auto Crimes Division Responsibilities:

The responsibility of the Auto Crimes Division is the follow-up investigation of cases associated with the following:

  • Carjackings
  • Chop shops
  • Stolen vehicle parts
  • Theft of heavy equipment
  • Thefts of boats theft of trailers
  • Unauthorized use of motor vehicles
  • Vehicle burglaries
  • Vehicle thefts

In addition, they investigate title fraud, violations associated with the operation of salvage yards, used car dealerships, vehicle parts houses, and any other entities associated with vehicles and their commerce.
