About me

Dr. Hunter Spencer provides care to create a more beautiful and just community. He is inspired to treat and cure diseases that interact with every aspect of people's lives like chronic infections and substance use disorders. He finds meaning in sharing in his patients' trauma, struggles and successes. His research focuses on health disparities that exist among certain populations, and how to correct them.

Outside of work, Dr. Spencer enjoys exploring Oregon's beaches, forests, mountains and deserts with his wife and their adventurous Chihuahua, Toby. He recently picked up boxing for fitness and loves the new challenge.

Insurance

Before scheduling your appointment, we recommend you contact your insurance company to verify that the OHSU Health location or provider you plan to visit is included in your network. Your insurance company will also be able to inform you of any copayments, co–insurance, or deductibles that will be your responsibility. If you proceed in scheduling an appointment and your health insurance benefits do not participate with OHSU providers, your out of pocket liability may be higher. Visit the billing and insurance section of our site for more information.
