Application Forms and Instructions

For any application, contact Program staff for the most current information on submission.

Most competing "single-project" (e.g., R01, R03) and "multi-project" (e.g., P50, P01) grant programs at NIH now require electronic application submission or SF 424 (R&R) .  You must submit your applications via Grants.gov and track your applications as they move from Grants.gov  to the eRA Commons , NIH's system for grants administration, to complete the submission process.  Paper applications with due dates on or after September 25, 2013, must use the August 2012 version of the PHS 398 instructions PHS Form 398 (paper)  . See section below for details on electronic submission.

You will need to know if a Letter of Intent is requested for the announcement to which you are responding.  Please submit if requested.

Please note that if your budget is equal to or likely to exceed $500,000 in direct costs for any year of the project, NIH policy (NOT-OD-02-004 ) requires prior approval from Program staff at least six weeks prior to the anticipated submission date.  Information regarding this approval will need to be submitted in a cover letter with the application.
