National Gallery Singapore

The new Gallery synergises the original architecture of the buildings with contemporary design and facilities, creating a world class visual arts instutition.

The grandest room in the entire building has hosted many significant events in Singapore's history, such as the signing of the Japanese surrender document on 12 September 1945 and the swearing in of Singapore's first Prime Minister, Lee Kuan Yew, on 5 June 1959. Some of the Chamber's key architectural features have been restored, such as its brass capital and marble columns.

Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery

The Ng Teng Fong Roof Garden Gallery has been transformed from an empty space into a stunning al fresco space with two reflection pools, a platform for artwork installations, art studios and a public viewing deck.

Link Bridges: Upper Link & Lower Link

Two link bridges connect the former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings. Located in the atrium of the buildings, the bridges are complemented by a distinctive metal and glass canopy supported by tree-like columns. The canopy and columns integrate the buildings at roof level to create a civic plaza in the sky. 

Former Supreme Court Terrace

Did you know the former Supreme Court has two domes? Previously hidden from view, the smaller of the two domes, the Rotunda dome, can now be seen up close at Supreme Court Terrace.

Inside the Rotunda

Underneath the Rotunda dome lies this circular room. This was originally a law library, and then became a police post. The curved columns and cabinets have been restored and now house archival materials that visitors may browse.

Former Supreme Court Historical Lobby

The historical lobby of the former Supreme Court was conserved. To do this, the flooring and ceiling had to be removed and meticulously restored before being re-installed.

Former Supreme Court Balcony

Italian sculptor Rudolfo Nolli designed the majestic Corinthian columns at the entrance of this national monument. Nolli also designed the building's tympanum. 

Former Supreme Court Foyer

The flooring of the foyer was restored, with the original eight-sided foundation stone intact. Underneath the stone lies a time capsule, to be opened in the year 3000, containing Straits Settlements currency and newspapers.
