The Retrofit Installer Technician course is a comprehensive training course designed to prepare students to: identify worker/client safety hazards such as mold, lead, and asbestos using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices; understand basic building science concepts and their effect on the house as a system; properly install air-sealing measures, insulation, and ground moisture barriers; perform duct inspections; evaluate, remove and re-install windows and doors. The material presented in this course is a culmination of proper weatherization practices provided by the Building Performance Institute, Inc., the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), and the US Department of Energy (DOE).
