About LA Pride

Los Angeles Pride, known as the LA Pride Parade and Festival, is over 40 years old and packs in thousands from the local and broader LGBTQ community every June in the city's gayborhood, West Hollywood. Actually, Los Angeles hosted the world's first permitted parade advocating for gay rights on June 28, 1970, as a response to and in commemoration of the Stonewall Rebellion on Christopher Street in New York City the year prior.

The LA Pride Festival started in 1974 as a street fair on Sunset Blvd and Cherokee Ave and moved to West Hollywood in 1979. Today the LA Pride Festival attracts over 50,000 attendees each year with three stages, activations, and non-profit booths. While LA Pride today offers a great party and celebration, it remains true to its political and social foundations and still to this day promotes the values: Be Aware, Be Inspired, Be United, Be Mindful, and Be True, each year throughout its promotion and execution.

In the past, LA Gay Pride has attracted top-name billings from the world of pop, such as Joss Stone and Olivia Newton-John, for the after-parade party. If you want to experience a different side of LA for your next gaycation, you need to get there for the city's annual Pride celebration, and you won't regret it!
