Maspalomas Gay Pride

Maspalomas Gay Pride is one of Europe’s biggest and most-celebrated gay events, with tens of thousands of locals and tourists flocking to the Spanish island of Gran Canaria each Spring. Maspalomas is a very popular gay hotspot any time of the year thanks to its dreamy beaches, the year-round temperate climate and of course the Yumbo Center - an LGBTQ enclave of bars, restaurants, and clubs. During Maspalomas Pride,every year in May  however, things reach an all time high, with thousands of pride enthusiasts descending upon this island paradise to celebrate their pride in the sun.  

Every year, you can expect the streets of this beachside town to get packed with throngs of gay guys and girls from around Europe and the rest of the world. Taking place in and around the infamous Yumbo Center and Playa del Ingles, the popular duned-beach, Maspalomas Gay Pride is one of Gran Canaria’s biggest LGBTQ events. The event usually transpires over the course of roughly ten days, and includes a pride parade along with lots of themed parties.

The streets of Maspalomas are filled with ever growing crowds during the annual Maspalomas Gay Pride. Maspalomas Gay Pride was first held in 2001 in the southern part of the Gran Canaria island when the City Council of San Bartolome de Tirajana along with a few Yumbo Center entrepreneurs joined forces to create what is now the largest event on the island. Since then it has grown exponentially, attracting an estimated 100,000 attendees each year. 

Gay Pride Maspalomas continues to be a beacon for LGBTQ rights, and is the biggest supporters against discrimination and violence against against gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals. By celebrating an incredible Pride annually, and supporting the local LGBTQ culture of Gran Canaria throughout the year, Gay Pride Maspalomas aims to promote respect and reocognition for the LGBTQ community, and eradicate any form of stigma or judgement.
