Aquatic and Wildlife Grants

Grants are available to assist with Michigan's wildlife and aquatic habitat management and improvement. Each grant program has specific criteria for eligible projects and who can apply, as well as specific application deadlines and minimum/maximum grant request amounts.

Aquatic Habitat Grant Program

Dam Management Grant Program

Habitat Improvement Fund

Invasive Species Grant Program

Provides funding local, federal, or tribal units of government, nonprofit organizations, and universities to address strategic issues of prevention, detection, eradication, and control for both terrestrial and aquatic invasive species in Michigan.

Upper Peninsula Deer Habitat Improvement

Designed to foster productive relationships between the DNR, sportsmen's organizations, concerned citizens and other partners that produce tangible deer habitat improvement benefits and educate the public about the importance of the work and the scientific principles involved in it.

Wildlife Habitat Grant Program

Provides funding to local, state, federal or tribal units of government, profit or non-profit groups, or individuals to enhance and improve the quality and quantity of game species habitat - managing habitat for sustainable wildlife populations in a changing environment.

Fisheries Habitat Grant Program

Provides funding to local, state, federal, or tribal units of government, academic institutions, or non-profit groups to benefit fisheries, aquatic resources, and the public, including fish habitat conservation, dam removal and repair, and access to recreation.
