“As a first responder and a chief officer, one of my primary goals is to see everyone get home safely every day. I have always felt that effective communications is a force-multiplier in that effort.” — Assistant Fire Chief Chris Lombard, Seattle Fire Department Chris Lombard is a worthy recipient for this year’s Harlin McEwen Award, honoring his remarkable leadership, contributions to advancing public safety communications, and dutifully serving his community. The Fire Rescue International 2024 Conference kicks off this week in Dallas, and it’s shaping up to be an event you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the fire and emergency services field, this conference is the perfect place to connect, learn, and discover the latest industry innovations. With so many exhibitors, I have my own check-in list of partners and networks I gravitate toward at these events. Here's a list of just a few as you plan out your own time at the show…   Emergent Fire & EMS Software and Emergency Technical Decon (Booth # 3916) Emergent is your go-to destination for innovative solutions in fire and emergency services. Their focus is on delivering cutting-edge technology to improve operational efficiency and safety. At their booth, you’ll find demonstrations of their latest products, including advanced firefighting equipment and technology designed to enhance emergency response capabilities. Emergency Technical Decon shares the same booth, providing top-notch decontamination and biohazard management solutions. Their live demos will show you how to keep your team safe and compliant with regulations, making this booth a one-stop shop for crucial tech and safety solutions.   FirstNet, Built with AT&T (Booth # 3209) While you’re in the neighborhood, swing by the FirstNet booth. This nationwide public safety network is built with first responders in mind, ensuring robust and reliable communication during emergencies. Their demos will show you how FirstNet is enhancing coordination and operational efficiency, making it a must-see for anyone interested in public safety communications.   Pierce Manufacturing (Booth # 3303) Just steps away from Emergent and Emergency Technical Decon, Pierce Manufacturing is another booth you can’t miss. Renowned for their custom-built fire trucks and innovative equipment, Pierce’s display will give you an up-close look at some of the most advanced fire apparatus around. Their commitment to quality and safety makes them a leader in the industry.   Stationwise (Booth # 1805) Next on your list should be Stationwise. They offer cutting-edge solutions for fire station management, including a core staffing tool that streamlines daily operations and improves department wide communications. Whether you’re looking to optimize scheduling or manage resources more effectively, Stationwise has the tool to make your station run smoother.   Western Fire Chiefs Association (Booth # 1523) Lastly, make sure to visit the Western Fire Chiefs Association booth. The WFCA provides invaluable resources and advocacy for fire service leaders. At their booth, you can learn about their latest initiatives and educational programs, network with fellow chiefs, and discuss the current trends and challenges in fire service leadership.   I’m looking forward to seeing many of you there and always enjoy the chance to catch up at a face-to-face level. See you there!
