Cycling Industries Europe new Board and President elected

Cycling Industries Europe new Board and President elected

At the Cycling Industries Europe General Assembly held on 27th June there was strong competition for places on the organisation’s Board of Directors, which is a very encouraging sign of our members' commitment to the mission of CIE.

We are delighted to announce that 11 companies were elected to serve on the Board until the General Assembly 2025, including three new companies and five new Directors.

The members of the incoming Board elected Tony Grimaldi of Cycleurope to continue as CIE President for a further two years.

In terms of gender diversity there is a change to report, with three female company leaders directly elected to the board, significant progress compared to the zero candidates that came forward in 2021.

There was also a maintenance of diversity in the Board in terms of the type of companies elected, with three companies of the 11 representing the services sector of the industries we represent and four representatives of smaller companies alongside leading global bikes and components companies.

Tony Grimaldi said

“I would like to thank everyone for their participation in this election. The high level of interest is really positive for CIE’s future and I think it is a reflection of the positive work we do for companies.

I would particularly like to thank those who have served on the board of CIE for the past two years and are now leaving. It has been a pleasure working with you, and I am proud of our engagement together.

The EU Cycling Declaration which will be confirmed later this year has an ambition to double cycle use and cycling jobs in Europe, a direct impact on all our businesses. This gives the new Board a strong incentive for our future and pushes us to secure our advocacy, our expert groups and develop our organisation.

I look forward to working with you to build a stronger and even more impactful CIE.”
