I had the chance yesterday to participate in a training from Info-Handicap focusing on how to accommodate and communicate with people with specific needs with emphasis on the cultural sector. Representatives from Adapth et Rahna, the Centre for the Development of Skills for the Visually Impaired, Hörgeschädigten Beratung, and Ligue HMC came to talk to us. What stood out was the involvement of individuals with specific needs, sharing their experiences first-hand and letting us ask them questions. It reinforced the crucial lesson that not all specific needs are visible, highlighting the importance of empathy and thoughtful communication. In the spirit of continuous learning, I encourage everyone to take a step back, ask questions, and actively listen. It's vital not to assume, but rather, to understand and meet diverse needs. Introducing “HER Safe Space” When girls have questions, they often turn to people outside their immediate families. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads them to the wrong sources, which can create more problems. That’s why, as part of our Beyond Her Odds Initiative, we’re excited to announce the launch of “HER Safe Space.” Drum rolls!!! 🥁 🥁 We’re setting up two dedicated safe spaces where girls can come with their questions, receive training, and get the support they need. “HER Safe Space” will offer a welcoming environment where girls can seek advice, gain knowledge, and find the encouragement they need. Our goal is to provide a trusted place where they feel heard and supported as they navigate their challenges. Having a safe space is crucial. It’s a place where girls can talk openly, get reliable guidance, and build the confidence to overcome their obstacles.
