What a great week! This past Wednesday, I attended the #NationalInternDay networking event hosted by Tenneco and even got to ask Jim Voss the first question of the day! It was so cool to meet interns and employees from different Tenneco locations and hear about their unique experiences. Thank you, Bethany Schira, and everyone else who helped organize such an amazing event! Thank you, Jim, and the rest of the panel, for offering such encouraging advice as we interns navigate our career pathways! A key takeaway: Make what you do your passion. In a career path, there will be highs and lows, peaks and valleys, wins, and not losses, but opportunities to grow. Get uncomfortable! Ask questions! Embrace these growth opportunities, and combined with passion, you'll be climbing your way to the next peak before you know it.

Hey everyone! 👋 I have some exciting news to share! I am happy to announce that I accepted an internship this summer with Rivian as an Autonomous Infrastructure Software Engineer on the Embedded Autonomy team! This journey started a year ago at the National Society of Black Engineers National Convention in Kansas City. I had the privilege of attending with my chapter from Santa Clara University (NSBE SCU) and I found myself waiting in a never-ending line at the Rivian booth. This was my first experience in the world of professional networking and let alone one of the biggest engineering conventions, which was filled with a combination of intimidation and imposter syndrome. Once the wait was over, I had a brief conversation with Jessica Dawson Collier, which inspired me to pursue an internship at Rivian. A year later, I look back at all of my personal, academic, and professional growth and feel so grateful. Thank you so much, Emma Jimenez, Scott Moser, and Errick Flores for this amazing opportunity, smooth interviews, and everyone else that helped me throughout my process. Here are a few key things that played a key role in my success: ✅ Quality > Quantity: One of the biggest things I learned through 70+ applications, dozens of interviews, and multiple offers is that the quality of your application will make you stand out! This means focusing on being concise, articulate, and giving a thoughtful project presentation. ✅ Persistence and Patience: You never know what the future holds, and each bit of work you put in each day will pay off, so never stop improving and using your setbacks as motivation. ✅ Networking: Always keep connecting with people and finding ways to stay inspired. Living in Mountain View, California, Jobs took a bold step that would change his life forever: he cold-called Hewlett-Packard's co-founder Bill Hewlett, hoping to secure some leftover electronic parts. 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐌𝐈 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨, 𝐈𝐋 - Wrapping up my summer internship After spending an amazing 3 months at the Bosch USA headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan.....I will be travelling to Chicago to wrap up my summer internship with the grow platform, A Bosch Company. I will be attending the 𝐈𝐌𝐓𝐒 (𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰) in the Chicago convention center along with meeting Bosch colleagues in the Illinois area and of course exploring the "windy city" in the evenings. 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐧, 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 : - Explore the different BUs at Bosch and understand how massively big the company is, even by just exploring a fraction of the 91.6 Billion Euro revenue and 4,30,000 associates worldwide. - Network with senior leaders including Directors of Business Development, strategy, legal and engineering - learnt so much from them. - Explore the automotive hub of USA and make friends at General Motors, Ford Motor Company, HARMAN International, Dassault Systèmes etc and get a pulse of how these firms are visualizing the future of mobility. - Understand the experience centers, testing facility and the amazing engineering work which keeps Bosch "invented for life". - Have numerous lunches and coffee chats with fellow interns, Account Managers, Calibration Engineers, VPs and German delegations. Looking back, its been surreal....but I am 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 with still so much to do and explore in my last week as an intern. A week at ASTECH Engineered Products I have just started my internship at ASTECH Engineered Products this week. It started out with some company training, after that, I was taken around the shop and given an introduction to the many factors that lay into the work we do here. The next day, my supervisor and I started to come up with a gameplan on how to meet expectations for the class I am taking. My first project I was given was to make a one pager to introduce our capabilities to customers using new or existing content from our marketing presentations. What goes into making this was what do we want to communicate? Making sure there was proper formatting and photos. Who will we send it to? We still are going to discuss our target customers and then research if we can find contact info whether it be via LinkedIn or on customer websites. Our next step is going to be to send them out and make an excel page to field our responses. My next project will be to update our customer satisfaction survey. I will update our former survey to the latest information, review it with my supervisor, and then send it out to our existing customers. We will then follow up with them in order to receive responses Once we hear back from our customers, the next thing I will do will be to summarize them. I will be making a spreadsheet with columns for each question asked. By doing this, we will be able to get an average "score" on every step that goes into what we do. Overall, in my first week, I have already learned a lot about what goes on at ASTECH. More importantly, while I am in the office and shop, listening in on meetings and other conversations, I am starting to get a good feel about how things work for us and how we can overcome any obstacles that may arise. https://lnkd.in/gAmkKfKB #internalcomms #programmanagementintern #internshipjourney

Hello Network! A question I asked myself when I first heard about the upcoming Year 12 work experience was, "Is it worth it?" After this past week, I can confidently affirm, YES!✅ I had the privilege of securing a placement at the esteemed Stephen James BMW & MINI’s Bromley branch in the customer service reservations section. During this week, I shadowed the inbound, outbound, and digital teams, learning phone etiquette, how to book services, MOTs, and quotes. Working alongside different team members allowed me to explore various methods of performing these tasks and seek advice from workshop staff to better assist customers. I gained hands-on experience with different operating systems and observed repairs in the workshop; joining the Parts and Servicing Team provided me with a practical understanding of diagnosing car issues. I also gained insights into tasks that appear complex in theory but are much simpler when performed hands-on. Overall, this experience has been an insightful introduction to the world of automotive engineering and the various roles involved in delivering these services. In every role I assumed, I gained valuable insights into automotive engineering, from the intricacies of car design to problem-solving techniques. Altogether, I am grateful to have been with Stephen James BMW, a company I deeply admire and aspire to be associated with in the future. For those seeking enjoyable work experience, here are some tips: ⏰** START EARLY**: Most placements are first-come, first-served. Aim to secure a workplace as soon as the dates for your work experience are announced. 👀 **SEARCH FOR OPPORTUNITIES**: Large companies often list work experience opportunities on their careers pages under internships and apprenticeships. Attend school career events or online seminars for both virtual and in-person experiences. ❓ **ASK EARLY**: If you're unsure where to start, your school or college's career leader can help connect you to businesses. 🕵️ **NETWORK**: Regularly search for and connect with people who share your interests to uncover potential opportunities.
