Precision driving and professional growth 🎯🚀 Last week I experienced the excitement of a driving training at a Porsche Experience Center 🏎️💨. We engaged in dynamic exercises like slalom at fast speed 🌪️, emergency evasion 🛑, and controlled management of oversteer and understeer 🔄. The ultimate test involved executing a controlled tail slide on a slippery surface 🧊, followed by a rapid acceleration 🚗💥, requiring sharp reflexes and meticulous control 🎮. The event wasn't just about the thrill; it offered valuable driving insights 📚. It also served as a networking opportunity, as I met colleagues from different departments and companies 🤝. More than entertainment, the training provided a profound understanding of the cars' capabilities 🏁. We pushed the vehicles to their limits within a safe setting, learning the delicate balance between maintaining control and embracing the car's full potential 🔧⚖️. Leaving the track, I felt a deeper respect for the engineering behind these cars 🛠️👏 and a revitalized commitment to my role. Reminiscing about the great time I had last week on the 2 track day experiences at the Porsche Experience Centre, Silverstone. Big thank you to Claire Mc and Matthew Wheeler for sharing these with me. Take home messages include: 1) The launch control on the Porsche Taycan is phenomenal. Incredibly fast - took off like a rocket! I can see why EVs have the added advantage in their technology of speed over petrol vehicles. 2) The instructor really took me to my limits of braking (very last minute before a barrier) to demonstrate the speed of stopping and control the car had. He even told me to take my hands off the wheel 🙈. The control the car had was unbelievable- clearly a very very safe car in an emergency stop for my little family. 3) The splash pad (can’t recall the correct name) was great fun skidding around on . 4) The centre has really nice staff and female instructors also. Didn’t feel in any way intimidated / pressure to compete with any others - totally the opposite. My instructor made me feel quite at home and comfortable being a minority gender on the day. Hospitality and catering were excellent and yes -2 free charges whilst I was there 🔥 to get me home! 5) The human performance centre assessment I had was really interesting . It was great to also meet Eliot Challifour and his team. I learnt more about how posture whilst driving is so important and not just relevant to racing car drivers! Luckily have a couple more of these experiences to use up this year…..including the long awaited new EV model of the Porsche AG Macan. Can’t wait to try it out on the track 🤞. Everyone has a dream to chase, it is hard to keep it alive, but the real challenge lies in nurturing it and fight against the distractions and setbacks that life presents. 30+ years since! Volvo Cars Torslanda was my first great place to work för this magnificent brand. Still proud provider to a company offering cool core values with attributes always essential for building its strength. Me getting well acquainted with the first XC90, launched before I left the plant, was such an amazing experience. Creating value The value of shared know-how in hard to determine. So many learnings throughout the years, also from teams in other businesses within the Göteborg automotive cluster. Huge steps in technology within the industry, in particular the latest years, taken for Volvo Cars. Now approaching 6 months since the official opening of a unique facility: The state-of-the-art flagship of engineering centres and Tech Hubs, indeed a great place to work. Reflecting on the energy around us, the last few weeks, experiencing such a positive flow. Ambience like an open bar of inspiration from all interaction. Collaboration with professional highly resolute people and always being empowered by the successful genuine leadership. Transformation for efficiency All the innovations on our way - pushed through with resilience and perseverance - to deliver those unique products and services. Being confident in successful global launches, thanks to all the efforts testing, bringing functional growth rapidly further to the customer. Perfection made sure utilizing continuously growing capacity in the SW development. Taking the lead in transformation of how to run testing makes this journey even more interesting. In addition to this creating more value through increased collaboration and transparency. As a result, we are looking forward to more efficient utilization of each investment. Being a part of the value creation feels special and implies a certain gratitude.
