How should you think about transitioning from one industry to another? 2 months ago, I transitioned out of Medha, a Not-For-Profit, social sector and dived deep into the world of profits and business at GrowthX®. Ever since, many folks have reached out to know more on career transition. Here’s are few things I can share from my experience of a 180 degree career turn: ➡ Clearly define your reasons to transition. Be honest here. This will be your driving force through process. ➡ Be confident in your work and skills. Had a lot of fun building at Medha. ❤️ ➡ Reflect and pen down the transferrable skills you’re cultivating at work. Its important that you spend time writing it. This is one thing that I was asked in every single interview of mine. ➡ Apply for roles that genuinely interest you. This hugely impacts your transition. Curiosity breeds learning faster than anything. ➡ Dissociate your self worth with the job description. Its never a perfect fit. You dont have to reject yourself. Just apply. ➡ Go forward with applications where ‘I dont know but I want to’ is seen as a positive statement. ➡ Prioritize orgs that encourage curiosity of a beginner’s mind. Especially, if you’re someone who pours their heart at work. Kicking off some experiments at GrowthX® from the same lens. 💙 Changing path in any aspect of life naturally comes with doubts and questions along the way. So, even if you’re nervous, get on your laptop, fix your resume and hit apply.

There is a big difference between a job and a career opportunity. A job is a sideways move and a career opportunity is an upwards move. For something to be considered an upwards move, 2 key questions have to be answered. HOW and WHY it's an upward move.
