Molson Coors Beverage Company to invest £100m in UK production 👏 The multinational drink and brewing company has announced plans to roll out a significant investment programme, upgrading its infrastructure and improving capabilities and efficiencies across its UK network. Plans include installing a new 24-tonne high-speed 120,000 cans per hour filler at its Burton-on-Trent brewery and upgrading the packaging keg line at its Tadcaster brewery and Aspall Cyder House. The move aligns with Molson Coors' commitment to reaching Net Zero carbon via direct emissions in the UK by 2035. Fraser Thomson, Chief Supply Chain Officer for Western Europe, commented: "This plan is an investment in our future, giving our people and our brands the tools to fulfil our potential in the UK market while making strong progress against our sustainability targets. Through a number of on-market processes that CBRE have conducted over the past 12 months, we are dealing with the most active capital on a daily basis, and as a result we are able to successfully identify and place these groups into future opportunities on and off-market. Anchored by a strong performing Coles Supermarket and further supported by 21 additional retailers with a focus on food and beverage and allied health retailers - located in a strategic location only 1.5km* of the Brisbane CBD. Canada's industry minister is considering a dozen foreign grocery companies as potential entrants to the domestic food-retailing sector. The move is aimed at increasing competition and reducing the high prices Canadians pay for groceries. The list of possible entrants includes companies from the U.S., Germany, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, France, Norway, and Russia. According to the federal government's annual budget plan, released this week, food prices in Canada have risen by about 23% since just prior to the pandemic. Picture this... it’s Friday afternoon, work is finished, and you’ve just cracked an ice-cold beer. Have you ever wondered where that beer is brewed, or how it got to you? Well, let me put your mind at ease with both a great beer recommendation, where it’s brewed, and its journey to your fridge. Last week, I spent the morning at Australian Beverage Contract Filling Pty Ltd (AKA Hawkesbury Brewing Co) on the Central Coast. I learnt about regional supply chain headaches, manufacturing growth in the area, community connection, and, of course, where and how a delicious drop of Hawkesbury Brewing Co Pacific Ale is created. The innovative engineering that Adam Neale has commandeered to solve supply shortages, manufacture new products, and create a more sustainable production environment is incredibly fascinating. Unfortunately, with the Central Coast being classified as regional, the logistical surcharges are crippling to get product across Australia and the rest of the world. Luckily, with a growing need for regional logistics, community-focused freight forwarder Kane Dyson from Dyson Logistics Pty Ltd is really bridging this gap. Emergent Cold Latam Invests $15 Million in Panama Emergent Cold LatAm expands its temperature-controlled food storage and logistics facilities, investing $15 million in Panama and $1.2 billion across Latin America. Acquiring Galores Cold Storage in 2021 marked Emergent Cold Latam's entry into Panama, initiating a modern warehouse as part of its regional expansion plan. With a presence in 11 countries, Emergent Cold Latam emerges as the largest refrigerated food logistics and storage company in Latin America and the Caribbean. The newly expanded facility offers storage capacity for approximately 29,000 pallets, with potential expansion up to 6,000 additional positions. Rafael Rocha, co-founder of Galores Cold Storage and now Senior Commercial Vice President for Latin America at Emergent Cold LatAm, emphasizes the significance of this expansion, enhancing their ability to provide comprehensive solutions to clients across multiple countries. Alain Eichmann, General Director for the Caribbean region, highlights Panama's strategic geographical advantages as a pivotal connection point between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, facilitating access to European and Asian markets, complementing Emergent Cold Latam's value-added solutions. Credit to PortCalls February 2, 2024 AC Logistics to expand cold storage footprint https://lnkd.in/gdDPxamu ● AC Logistics Holdings Corp. plans to build additional cold storage facilities to combat the 40% spoilage rate of fresh produce in the country ● AC Logistics previously went into a joint venture to build a cold chain a facility in Cagayan de Oro, now at 100% utilization rate In a recent interview with ANC Channel, AC Logistics President Rene Almendras  revealed the plans, highlighting the pivotal role of logistics in influencing both the spoilage rates of food and associated costs. The company’s recent experiment involving refrigerated trucks for transporting vegetables to Metro Manila yielded a significant reduction in spoilage rates, underscoring the impact of enhanced logistics on food preservation. In another milestone, AC Logistics ventured into the cold chain industry through a joint venture agreement with Glacier Megafridge, Inc., leading to the establishment of a cold storage facility in Tablon, Cagayan de Oro. The facility, boasting 5,348 pallet positions, is now at a 100% utilization rate.

📢 In a decision announced this morning, the Norwegian Competition Authority (NCA) has fined Norway’s three leading grocery chains – NorgesGruppen, Coop and Rema 1000 – for violating Section 10 of the Norwegian Competition Act (mirroring Article 101 TFEU) by cooperating on the use of so-called price hunters to systematically check prices in competitors' stores. According to the NCA, this constitutes illegal information exchange, which has had a restrictive effect on competition.
