Maguire Subaru of Ithaca recently donated blankets to the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation for patients undergoing cancer treatments. The donation is part of a partnership between Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the Subaru Loves to Care Event. Since 2016, LLS and Subaru have supported cancer patients and their families with free resources such as blankets. Blankets not only provide emotional comfort for patients undergoing treatment, but also can manage physical effects as well. Often, chemotherapy can cause side effects that make patients feel cold. The cancer care kits, provided by the CMC Foundation, will also include self-care items not covered by insurance, such as soap, moisturizer, lip balm, and lotion. 🩸 Blood donations are vital for many cancer patients whose treatments impair their ability to produce red blood cells, especially when battling blood and bone marrow cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. 💛 Please consider donating blood; your contribution is crucial for stabilizing blood cell counts and can significantly aid in their treatment. Every donation can save lives and help those fighting cancer. #DonateBlood #CancerSupport #MakeADifference

📣 Vital research findings pointing to improved treatment for children with Group 3 medulloblastoma brain tumours have been revealed in two major studies published in the journal NeuroOncology on Tuesday 8 October. 👉 Medulloblastoma is among the most common malignant brain tumours of childhood cancer and is responsible for around 5 to 10% of childhood cancer deaths. 💜 Children with Cancer UK, together with Cancer Research UK (CRUK), The Brain Tumour Charity, Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, Blue Skye Thinking and Little Hero - Brain Tumour Charity funded the two-phase £5 million INSTINCT research programme led by Newcastle University. 📝 Now, findings from the studies could form the foundation of more targeted treatments for many children, leading to improved survival, less severe long-term side effects and improved quality of life. 🔬 Led by Professor Steve Clifford, Director of Newcastle University Centre for Cancer, the INSTINCT research programme set out to identify key genetic defects and find effective targeted approaches to treating Group 3 medulloblastoma. September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month! This global event has helped raising awareness for all types of blood cancer since 2010. Blood cancers are one of the world’s most prevalent cancers, especially in children. They come in many forms and shapes, depending on the origin of the malignant cells. Raising awareness for blood cancer, its signs, symptoms and impact, can help to improve early diagnosis, encourage policymakers to enhance funding for research, as well as make people affected by blood cancer connected and heard. memoinoncology.com provides frequent updates on current research, especially progress in treatment options for haematological cancers. Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day. It’s all about highlighting the issue of ovarian cancer around the globe and what we need to do to reach a world where no woman dies of ovarian cancer. Although there is no way to prevent Ovarian Cancer, it’s important we know the symptoms to look out for. If you’re worried about Ovarian Cancer, always speak to your GP. You can also find some brilliant resources and support at charities like Cancer Research. https://lnkd.in/dDg-UTV #ovariancancer #worldovariancancerday #healthcare

Donation Day with Vitalant. Maybe some of us know someone battling cancer. Maybe some of us feel helpless on what we can do to help. I have an answer for you 🤗 Did you know, Cancer patients can use donated platelets to prevent or stop bleeding, which is important because many cancer treatments can suppress the bone marrow and make it difficult for the body to produce enough platelets. Did you also know, Some cancer treatments, like chemotherapy and radiation, can cause a loss of platelets. Patients may need daily platelet transfusions for several weeks, especially if they've had a bone marrow transplant or are being treated for leukemia. Yes, it takes 2 hours. But your donation of time + blood can save a life! 🩷 Download the Vitalant app today and book your appointment to support our chemo warriors! #cancersucks #donateblood #vitalant

For my stats loving network - >3,200 Australians will lose their life to breast cancer this year. ≈1 in 500 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Why #57Squats? This is the number of Australians who receive a life changing breast cancer diagnosis each day. If you feel inclined, while I do a few quats each day, I'd be grateful for donations to support the world-class breast cancer research being undertaken by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, to better understand how to prevent and detect breast cancer early, how to stop the progression and recurrence of breast cancer, and how to effectively treat hard-to-treat and metastatic breast cancers. And, ultimately, support them to reduce these stats. I know we all know that there are real people behind these stats... #CancerSucks #BreastCancerResearch KPMG Australia #SquatSquad
