- [Rick] In this video, I'll explain the role of vCenter in a vSphere environment, and how we can use vCenter to manage all of our vSphere resources, including ESXi hosts data stores and virtual machines. And so, let's start out just by defining vCenter. vCenter is the central management system for all things related to vSphere. So, for example, all of our ESXi hosts, all of our virtual switches, all our data stores, all our virtual machines, that stuff all makes up vSphere, and we're going to use vCenter to manage all of that. So once we've got vCenter installed and ready to go, and we'll learn how to do that in a lesson coming up, but we can use the vSphere Client to connect to vCenter and to create things like virtual datacenters. These are those software defined datacenters that we talked about in an earlier lesson. And so I can create a virtual datacenter, and then within that virtual datacenter, I can start to add ESXi hosts. And I can have a bunch of virtual machines running on…
