- [Instructor] In this video, we will cover how you can establish a comprehensive rollback strategy in case things go south. Okay, we'll start with file system backup. Now, tools like LVM, it stands for logical volume manager, or file systems like Btrfs and ZFS can create snapshots of the state of a file system at a certain point in time, which can be used for quick rollbacks. Now of course, these tools, again, are free of cost and are available to you out of the box of a Linux machine. Then there is virtual machine snapshots. If you are running in a virtual environment, snapshots of virtual machines can be taken before applying changes to the operating system or applications. It is very easy to simply revert back to a snapshot which was taken prior to upgrading the system. Most of the virtual machine software have, of course, out-of-the-box snapshot feature, which can be performed on a VM with a simple click.
