- Since 2015, we've seen over 1,000 publicly disclosed data breaches each year. That's an average of three organizations getting hit every single day by cyber criminals. And that doesn't even include the breaches that haven't been publicly disclosed. Between 2007 and 2021, the global impact of ransomware rose from $5 billion to $20 billion, with that cost expected to be well over $200 billion by 2030. At what point should we take matters into our own hands and start hacking back? This isn't the work of script kiddies camping out in their parents' basement. In 2020, we saw reports of drug cartels partnering with cyber criminals to target governments and financial institutions. And in 2021, we started to see reports of new cartels focused exclusively on cyber crime.
