Hiring and onboarding
- You wrote a killer job posting. You recruited your socks off, you interviewed lots of great people, and you finally found the one. It's time to bring them on board. The smoother the transition into your organization, the more quickly that new hire will be making meaningful contributions. First up, call your candidate to tell them the job is theirs and do it enthusiastically. Share that they were the first choice out of however many candidates and that you were truly impressed. Once you've laid out pay, benefits, start date, and other logistics, get their commitment to join the team. If asked for a little time to think about it, see if you can understand the hesitation. Is there something about your applicant process that could improve, or is it something beyond your control? Then let them know your deadline for an answer. Once your candidate has agreed to join your team, provide a clear list of next steps so they know what to expect. Be sure you've had an employment law attorney…
