This position will support Men's Knits (cut & sew) and Woven Tops.
As Associate Designer, you will collaborate with the Design team to develop products across assigned categories. This role involves market research, Illustrator sketching, fabric, print, and trim development. You will also maintain regular communication with vendors and cross-functionally with the Merchandising, Production, and Tech Design teams .
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate in research and development of seasonal trends (Runway, Magazines, Style blogs, etc.).
- Identify key ideas and images for seasonal concept, design and development.
- Collaborate in shopping retail and designer markets to seek new & innovative ideas.
- Contribute strong innovative ideas & designs independently to support the Designer.
- Communicates regularly with merchant partners to gather input, share ideas and line development direction, and get them on board.
- Work toward independently owning a category from concept to final product with guidance and direction from the Designer.
- Follow trends and have knowledge of competitors and aspirational brands for your category.
- Create and present big idea boards at concept/kickoff.
- Strong knowledge of print and pattern trends - ability to drive creation of pattern assortment and recolors in partnership with CAD Designer .
- Create and manage tech packs; communicate with vendors and cross-functional teams on follow-up.
- Collaborate in identifying key seasonal fabrics and trims for development.
- Actively participate in fittings, update tech packs and sketches to support the Designer, and drive fittings independently as needed.
- Manage and maintain the organization of boards, trim library, and design files.
- Self-motivated with ability to manage and organize time and workflow between Knits and Woven's Tops departments
- Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design.
- 2 - 4 years of full-time professional Design experience.
- Proficient in using industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, PLM/PDM systems, etc.)
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fabric construction, and design processes
- Eye for "Express" brand. Excellent design and sketching skills. Strong fashion and creative ability. Keen trend awareness.
- Strong organizational skills & ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Sense of accountability and strong work ethic.
- Punctuality & dependable attendance.
- A positive, collaborative attitude with a willingness to take on challenges .
- Ability to make decisions independently, knowing when to consult with management .
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams .
- Public speaking skills, comfortable presenting designs and ideas in various settings .
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and business needs .
- Analytical skills to ask relevant questions and make timely decisions based on data .

Actual compensation offered is dependent upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, work location, education, relevant skills and experience of the candidate.
Salary Range
$70,200 - $99,700
