Here's a tip

After making changes to your public profile, it can take several weeks for search engines to detect and display changes. LinkedIn doesn’t control that process. You can control the visibility of your profile in search engine results by following these instructions

The information that appears in search engines like Google, Bing, or Yahoo! is gathered and updated by the search engines themselves. How quickly your information is updated or removed from search results depends on how often each search engine updates their information.

After making changes to your public profile, it can take several weeks for search engines to detect changes and refresh. LinkedIn doesn’t control that process. If you’re incorrectly appearing in search results on those sites, you can contact them directly to resolve incorrect search results.

Some members have found the following information helpful:

  • If you recently created a LinkedIn account and do not see your profile in search engine results, we encourage you to complete your profile and connect with other LinkedIn members to increase activity and raise visibility to search engines.
  • Verify if your public profile is searchable and displaying correctly on Bing or Yahoo! If other search engines are showing your public profile correctly, you can reach out to the support center for the search engine in question directly.
  • If your updated public profile is significantly different from the previous version, you can make a direct request to Google via their Refresh Outdated Content tool available at: https://search.google.com/search-console/remove-outdated-content. You can also Visit the Google Help center for more info. LinkedIn does not control this process.

Note: If you close your account with LinkedIn, it is closed immediately. However, it may take up to 72 hours for your public profile to be removed from LinkedIn.

  • Not all sections of your profile can be displayed publicly. On the Public profile settings page, you'll be able to see and adjust the sections of your profile that can be displayed publicly. Viewers who aren't signed in to LinkedIn will see all or some portions of the profile display selections you choose to display publicly.
  • In order to see your full profile, visitors may need to log in to their LinkedIn accounts.
