In honor of National First Responders Day today, UGI recognizes all first responders and emergency personnel for their dedication to the safety of the residents in the communities we serve. We honor our employees, both office and field, who are qualified first responders for natural gas odors and leak investigations, we well as the many employees who are also active with local fire, police, or ambulance services to help keep our communities safe.   We thank all our UGI first responders and our volunteer emergency responders for your dedication, courage, and commitment to safety. #EnergyToDoMore #NationalFirstRespondersDay

Earlier this week, UGI employee Brandon Rudolph, Sr Supervisor Operations from our Lancaster office, represented UGI Utilities on a Careers in Energy panel at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, moderated by Commissioner Katie Zerfuss of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission. Brandon, a Thaddeus Stevens College alumnus, along with panelists from other utility companies, spoke to high school and college students on the importance of energy and utility jobs. “Being able to share my story with future energy career workers was pretty incredible,” said Brandon. “I enjoyed learning that, although every panelist had their own unique paths to get where we are, we all experience the same joy and hardships along the way. I hope there are future opportunities to share our stories with others.” Thank you, Brandon for representing UGI Utilities! #EnergyToDoMore #FuelingOurFuture

Last month, UGI’s Don Brominski attended the Marcellus Shale Coalition SHALE INSIGHT® Conference in Erie, PA. Don was part of a panel discussion “Natural Gas: Supporting and Growing the Residential, Commercial and Industrial Markets.” This session explored the natural gas opportunities to expand residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Don spoke about UGI Utilities’ customer growth as a result of the development of the Marcellus Shale industry. On average, UGI adds approximately 10,000 customers per year over the last few years. Thank you, Don, for representing UGI Utilities and showing how natural gas is one of the safest, most reliable, affordable and sustainable fuel sources available and how vital it is to invest in energy solutions to meet increased demand. The devastation from Hurricane Helene on the communities of western North Carolina has been profound. Our teams continue to work diligently around-the-clock to deliver much-needed propane in these areas. Seeing the impact to people in these communities made us want to do more, so when Operation Airdrop Inc and Ground Force Humanitarian Aid reached out for help, we leapt into action. With the help of Operation Air Drop, a non-profit that uses volunteer pilots and small planes to deliver supplies to communities in the aftermath of natural disasters, and Ground Force Humanitarian Aid, a humanitarian relief organization delivering aid on the ground, we’ve coordinated the delivery of more than 1,300 propane cylinders via pack mule and ATV to the town of Spruce Pine, NC, and other areas nearby hit hard by the storm, where families and businesses are still stranded without power or resources. Thank you to our operations, ACE, and business teams for working so quickly to coordinate the purchase, fill, and distribution of these cylinders to those in need. There is still so much to do to help aid in recovery efforts, and we have pledged to do all we can to make both direct impacts—by supplying propane to those in need of power and dispatching our Airborne teams for additional boots on the ground—while continuing to look for opportunities to support our neighbors in these communities that we’re honored to live in and serve, as we recover from these devastating storms.
