  • Multiple TDOT projects won awards at the ACEC Tennessee’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards last night. The competition recognizes engineering firms for projects demonstrating exceptional innovation, complexity, achievement, and value. Among the winners, the I-65 at June Lake Boulevard interchange won the People’s Choice Award. These awards celebrate the most outstanding project achievements of the engineering profession, and we are proud to partner with firms who produce such high-level work. We also congratulate our TDOT employees recognized for their commitment to excellence.

  • TDOT brought back two awards from the Annual Committee on Transportation Communications (TransComm) conference, hosted in Atlanta, GA. TDOT’s Communications team earned the highest honor nationally, the Excel Award, for the innovative 2024 National Work Zone Awareness campaign. Featuring a unique comic book theme, this campaign effectively engaged the public and raised awareness about work zone safety through video production, social media outreach, live events, media partnerships, and posters. Additionally, America’s River Crossing project won the award for best logo! The design, created by our TDOT Communications team, showcases the Memphis skyline, agnostic to a bridge design, while utilizing colors that represent both Tennessee and the United States, due to the regional and national significance of the bridge. This recognition underscores TDOT’s commitment to creativity and strategic communication.

  • Plans for the new I-55 bridge, also known as America’s River Crossing, are moving forward! Today, Governor Bill Lee, TDOT Commissioner/Deputy Governor Butch Eley, and Parsons Transportation Group joined together at the site of the current bridge. Earlier this month, Parsons Transportation Group, Inc. was selected to provide Engineering and Design Services for the replacement project. “We are excited to begin this next phase to replace the I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River,” said Deputy Governor and TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley. “Together, we are committed to delivering a safe, sustainable, and iconic structure that will serve our region for generations to come.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gaiduj5j

TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley and our P3 team hosted more than 300 industry members, both in-person and virtually, to get the word out about the proposed project details. There's a lot of excitement around the proposed Choice Lanes project, which would be the first user-fee facility in the state.
