In many low-income countries, small shops sell 80-90% of all consumer goods, often to customers that larger retailers miss. If these local businesses reach their full potential, they can be a game changer for local economies. So we’re thrilled to be expanding our approach with micro-retailers to El Salvador. #solutionstopoverty #adifferentwaytomakeadifference
In #internationaldevelopment, we talk a lot about scaling what works. So it's always great to see it happen in practice. Yesterday, we launched a project that will take a proven model for boosting #smallbusiness performance to a new continent. Over the last several years, we've worked with thousands of small shops across #SubSaharanAfrica on a model that improves their revenue and #jobcreation, critical for local #economicgrowth. Now, we're scaling that approach with the new Micro-retail Development Project in #ElSalvador. With dedicated partners #USAID and #CBC, we will work with 44,000 (!) of the country's small shops--with 50% women participants--to: - Improve their business models to promote #sustainability and growth - Provide digital business training - Enhance their access to tailored credit products From the great launch event yesterday in San Salvador: 1 (L-R): H.E. William Duncan (Ambassador, U.S. Embassy in San Salvador), Maria Luisa Hayem Brevé (Minister of Economy of El Salvador), Gabriela Campuzano (TechnoServe's Latin America and Caribbean Regional Director), and Ziad Nahas (CEO of CBC) 2: Gabriela Campuzano addressing the audience Our amazing TechnoServe staff in El Salvador: 3 (L-R): Andrea Pérez de Novoa, Karen Osorio, Roxana Manzano de Díaz, Adriana Campos, Rocio Rivera, María José Santos, and Marcos Andrade 4 (L-R): Andrea Pérez de Novoa (Castro), MBA, Gabriela Campuzano, Oscar Artiga

Celebrating National Apple Day with Future Champions! On Monday, October 21st, the TechnoServe team in Nigeria commemorated #NationalAppleDay with exciting visits to three schools across Delta and Kano States! We had a fantastic experience connecting with eager students at: * Salvation Ministry Nursery & Primary School, Illah, Delta State * St. Martin College, Issele-Uku, Delta State * Karfi Special Primary School, Karfi, Kano State Our day was filled with joy as we shared fresh apples 🍎 and branded exercise books with the students. We also engaged them in lively discussions about the health benefits of apples and how making nutritious food choices can positively impact their well-being. A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and students for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation! It was a privilege to witness their excitement, and we are grateful to contribute to nurturing young minds—one healthy bite at a time! Let’s continue promoting healthy lifestyles and spreading the joy of learning across communities!

Thank you to Katarina Kahlmann for highlighting the difference that cashews are making in the mission to #EndGlobalPoverty #brighterfutures
Did you know that the cashew you're snacking on likely traveled around the world before reaching you?🌍🚢🌏🚢🌎 Côte d'Ivoire is the world's top cashew producer, but until recently, almost all of it was exported raw for processing in Asia. That's changing—fast. Much thanks to #TechnoServe’s Prosper Cashew initiative, local processing has exploded from 7% to 26%—and it’s just the beginning! This isn't just about cashews; it's about millions in GDP growth, new jobs (especially for women), reduced emissions and millions in investment flowing into the country. Here’s how we’re making it happen: 🔪SLASHING COSTS: We dropped processing costs from $750 to just $350 per ton, making Côte d’Ivoire competitive with markets like India and Vietnam. 💰 UNLOCKING CAPITAL: We’ve secured $22 million in working capital loans and are introducing innovative blended finance solutions to ensure long-term growth. 🏭 FILLING CAPACITY: Factories are now running more efficiently than ever, filling capacity and driving profits. 👩🏫 UPSKILLING: Through our Management Academy, we’re training leaders and skilled workers to power this industry. Congrats CILAGRI, Krishanu Chakravarty, Sarah E., Tifuntoh Konde, PC Das, Fayelle Ouane, Bayella THIAM and team, for creating local impact with global scale, and a huge thanks to our partners at USDA.
