Here are some pics at our Daytona Outreach last month supporting @lourdes_daytona with our shower trailer. We provide the showers and they provide a hot breakfast, food, clothing, hygiene, and more. These outreaches were made possible on a monthly basis by AdventHealth Central Florida East Division 🙏🏼 We were also blessed with volunteers from Volusia YPG You’ll see pics from our outreach that day. We even met a guest who used to get services with us in Orlando and recently relocated to Daytona. The Volusia Young Professionals were working hard not just with the shower trailer, but in so many other areas of the outreach that day with the church. Recently, Patmos Chapel Youth and Young Adults and SALT staff, hosted a game day with the youth and young adults in our program. Meet the SALT Storage Bus! 🚌 For people experiencing homelessness, not having a place to store your belongings can be a huge barrier to moving forward. When going to job interviews, medical appointments, seeing a case manager etc., many people have to try to hide their belongings and hope they don’t get stolen. Many times their belongings do go missing and they have to start over again 😔 That’s why SALT offers storage services. We will be expanding our storage services to Bithlo. People in encampments and sleeping outside could store belongings for a certain period of time while they take important steps toward ending their homelessness. (Coming at a later phase in our expansion! Yesterday we “broke ground” 🔨👷♂️👷♀️well… actually, we broke “walls” 🤷♂️ This video shows us starting some of the demolition💥🔨 Renovations for the youth and young adult drop-in center (ages 16 to 24) are underway! We are so glad to be working with a mission minded partner Interstruct Design + Build on this project. Pictured in this video you see our Care Services Director Renae, our Grants & Data Director Sabrina, our VP of Operations Aurora, and President Eric (in that order). This building will be fully renovated and furnished by December. More info to come! SALT is Expanding to Bithlo! 📣 At the Orange County Board of County Commission meeting last month, advocates, friends, and partners shared their support of SALT to receive funding from the county to expand to Bithlo, Florida. We have started to operate and have launched phase one of a four phase plan to duplicate our mobile drop-in center in East Orange County. Unsheltered homelessness has doubled here in Central Florida. With shelters full, housing programs at capacity, and affordable housing non-existent, people experiencing homelessness are relying on places like SALT to get their basic needs met, and be navigated through the homeless services system toward housing. In Bithlo we will be offering: Showers 🚿 Laundry 🧺 Charging Stations⚡️ Mail Services ✉️ Storage 📦 Case Management 💼 Mental Health Counseling 🧠 …and more! With your help, we can do so much!
