As Argentina undergoes economic transformation under President Milei, the nation presents a unique opportunity for investors in the energy transition. With massive reserves in lithium and copper, deregulation, and talks of dollarization, Argentina is positioning itself as a powerhouse in the global energy sector. But with China increasing its investments across Latin America, the time for U.S. action is now. Read Qorvis Senior Account Executive William Sadler's analysis on why the U.S. needs to prioritize Argentine energy investments to secure future supply chains and support the clean energy transition. The latest from Qorvis Senior Advisor Tom Sharpe OBE 👇
Thoughts on the US Navy's Arleigh Burke life extension: ➡️ All navies are doing this now; it's rarely good ➡️ The USN's CNO/head, "in today's budget-constrained environment..." ➡️ Arleigh Burke destroyers (73 of them 😳 ) are the most important allied warships in the world ➡️ But even ships this good can only be updated so many times "To summarise, I would say that the decision to keep these old but excellent warhorses at sea is good news; the conditions that have led to it being a necessity are not. And it is a path that can lead to great expense and limited availability. I will rightly receive abuse from US colleagues now, starting with ‘how many ships do you have at sea today?’ and that’s fair enough. But it will be good-natured abuse because they, like us, feel this resource squeeze acutely and they, just like us, are furiously scanning the horizon for political signs that defence expenditure will increase meaningfully enough to remove it." https://lnkd.in/e7NxhTvp

Qorvis Senior Advisor Tom Sharpe OBE shares his thoughts on the German warship avoiding the Red Sea: ➡️ Shocking optics, no matter what the reason ➡️ A better way to reduce risk is to arm ships properly ➡️ Is the era of (nearly) unarmed warships now over? ➡️ Why did they not use the 🇮🇹TG as cover, or the 🇺🇸? Read the whole thing at Telegraph: https://vist.ly/3mkgtfr

William Sadler, resident climate expert in the Qorvis Washington office, shares some insights from recent #energytransition dialogues during the IMF and World Bank week in D.C. 👇
Communications Specialist & Terra.do climate fellow - Energy Transition, Geopolitics, Technology Innovation, Public Sector
Last week I had a wonderfully exhausting time attending various DC energy events on the sidelines of the International Monetary Fund and The World Bank week. I sought to hear experts speak on a variety of key issues and opportunities, primarily related to the global energy investments, challenges, and opportunities. Some insights below… I heard about transparent communication practices for long term energy stability and future opportunities from Panama’s Minister of Economy and how Brazil’s Buget Minister aims to re-focus her government’s spending to properly leverage her country’s rich resources and human capital. The Italian Minister of Environment detailed Italy’s growing role as energy transition leaders in the EU and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Minister of Finance stated plainly that his country is a “sleeping giant” awaiting to leverage its trillions of dollars of resources to support the global energy transition. There was fruitful nuclear debate as to whether we are in the age of “Nuclear Renaissance” or a “Nuclear Recovery” and the bipartisan support that will soon bring an influx of nuclear investment. To cap off my week, I was invited to join Pisco Night at the Ambassador of Peru’s Residence to enjoy Peruvian cuisine and drinks. Special thanks to the Atlantic Council for hosting so many wonderful events! #EnergyCommunications #Climate #EnergyTransition

The Qorvis team was at Aviation Week Events MRO Europe in Barcelona last week, bringing our strategic guidance to the skies! Will we see you at MRO Dubai? #MRO #MROE #MROEurope #Aviation #AviationWeek #QorvisTeam
Founder, The Samantha Sault Agency | Board VP, Shareholder, Chief Editorial Officer, Qorvis | Writer + Editor
After four redeyes in two weeks, I finally landed in one of my favorite cities – Barcelona – for Aviation Week Events MRO Europe! Qorvis is known for its deep expertise in shipping and trade, and we're proud to bring our strategic guidance to the skies, helping aviation clients navigate complex regulatory landscapes, compliance challenges, and marketing initiatives. We enjoyed meeting leaders from airlines, MROs, suppliers, and media across the global aviation aftermarket, and getting inspiration from some truly innovative trade show booths. (And yes, there were team tapas!) Looking forward to MRO Dubai in February 2025! Guess who’s back? (Back again!) I’m so excited to be back in Singapore for the christening of Minerva Bunkering’s newest vessel, Amalthea, an LNG dual fuel bunker tanker! It was so fascinating getting up close and personal with how these tankers actually work and how complex the systems that keep global shipping and trade flowing actually are!

We are devastated by the passing of Qorvis Senior Advisor Yevgeniy Sydorov—a vibrant presence in our Washington office who was always eager to share his gifts as a writer, researcher, musician, and friend. Originally from Ukraine, Yevgeniy brought deep expertise in Eastern European politics and a unique ability to gather intelligence and make connections for his clients—who quickly became his friends. Previously, he was a Russian Media Specialist at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and a program analyst at The Humpty Dumpty Institute, where he organized congressional delegations overseas to foster dialogue. Beyond his exceptional work, Yevgeniy was a warm-hearted, witty, and energetic colleague, always ready to jump in and help with any task. Even from his hospital bed last month, we had to insist he focus on his health rather than the new client he’d won just a few weeks prior. A talented singer, he often serenaded us during team dinners—memorably leading our entire staff in a rendition of “Last Christmas” at last year’s holiday party. We will remember Yevgeniy for his positive impact on our team and clients and his deep love of his cherished home country and his 11-year-old daughter. Rest in peace, Colleague Yevgeniy.

As tensions rise in the Middle East, Qorvis Senior Advisor Tom Sharpe OBE highlights a significant development: the U.S. Navy’s decisive action in response to Iranian missile threats. The USS Cole and other Arleigh Burke-class destroyers successfully intercepted missiles over land, showcasing the effectiveness of the SM-3 missile system. Tom delves into the complexities of missile defense and the potential implications for U.S. and UK security strategies. Understanding the landscape of options and risks is critical, especially for shipping and trade companies operating in the region. A who’s who of Washington, D.C.’s business and diplomatic communities braved the drizzle for the annual Soiree Suisse in September—the first major public event for the new Swiss Ambassador, Ralf Heckner. Qorvis was proud to support clients at the gathering, reinforcing our strong partnership with the Embassy of Switzerland in the United States of America and our team in Geneva. Congratulations to The Villars Institute, a nonprofit foundation working to accelerate the transition to a net zero and nature-positive economy, which received the 2024 Gallatin Award, recognizing extraordinary contributions to Swiss-American friendship. #QorvisTeam #Qorvis #Switzerland #ClimateChange #SoireeSuisse
