Today is World Tourism Day, a moment dedicated to promoting responsible and sustainable tourism, fostering global understanding, and appreciating the cultural heritage and diversity that tourism brings to the world. We believe in travel as a force for good, that exploring new destinations and encountering new cultures can offer unparalleled moments of human connection, innovation, and inspiration. We also know that with this gift, we also have to consider the impact of our adventures. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable tourism and climate action with the development of a comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CAP), building on the signing of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism last year. Created in partnership with The Travel Foundation, this initiative focusses on defining our objectives and key actions to halve carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero as soon as possible before 2050. To kickstart this initiative, we have worked with carbon consultancy, ecollective, and with the active support of our associates and partners, to establish a baseline for our carbon emissions companywide. This baseline is now guiding the development of the CAP, which will outline specific strategies to reduce emissions, reach ambitious targets, and enhance accountability and transparency within the organization. We are excited to bring you with us and look forward to sharing our next update on this process - a condensed, publicly available document, that will be released in December, outlining our strategy for the coming years. Bringing together team members from across the globe, the conference provided a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, innovate, and educate. Topics ranged from how to effectively activate A.I, and other cutting-edge technology, to workplace mindfulness, story-selling as a tool for more meaningful connection, and how we as a company can lead the way in sustainable hospitality.
