  • Yesterday, PCCS Founder and Executive Director cRis marchioNNe, along with Deputy Executive Director Alexa Donnelly, had the pleasure of presenting at Nonprofit Staten Island's 12th Annual Conference. Their insightful session focused on transparency in pay and bridging the wage gap. They provided real-world examples and actionable strategies for community leaders to create a more transparent and equitable workplace, fostering long-term organizational success and a motivated, engaged workforce. PCCS offers consulting services. If your organization is interested in learning how to build a more transparent workplace, please contact us at info@pccsny.org. • To celebrate the end of Disability Employment Awareness Month, Person-Centered Care Services visited a job site where a person supported is employed. PCCS is incredibly proud to have job coaches supporting the career advancement of people supported. The hope is that more job sites become willing to hire people with disabilities, as their hard work deserves to be equally recognized. • Now that summer has come to a close, it is time to start looking forward to the Annual Holiday Drive. This year, the goal post has been moved and PCCS is looking to make the drive as large as possible, but we need your help to do it. There are many ways to support PCCS such as giving a gift to a student for just $10 or a staff for $5, choosing to sponsor an entire classroom, or just giving what you can. Every little bit helps! Our Day Habilitation program, a program designed for adults with disabilities to volunteer and get involved in the community, works tirelessly each year by planning, shopping, wrapping, and crafting for the students. Members of Day Hab ensure that the children have a memorable experience year after year, as well as inspire these students and show them the amazing opportunities they have ahead. With your help, Person Centered Care Services can reach this goal and continue the work we’ve set out to do in this campaign. Please help if you can. Every donation makes a difference. • In partnership with the Episcopal Churches on Staten Island, the Pride Center of Staten Island is proud to invite you to their Home for the Holidays Celebration Potluck on Friday, November 15th, at 6:00 P.M. This event is open to anyone and everyone who is looking for a holiday meal, who may not have a safe or welcome home during the holiday season, or anyone that is looking to start the holiday season off on a great note. Folks are encouraged to bring a dish of their choosing to share with at least five people but are not required to. Plenty of food will be prepared beforehand! This event is not just for LGBTQ+ folks, as it’s open to anyone looking for a place to call home for the holidays for the evening. We know that not everyone has an affirming or accepting family, a family to celebrate with, or is just not looking forward to the holiday season. So, bring your favorite holiday dish, ugly sweater, or just yourself to 1331 Bay Street for a night that will bring different communities together for a night of unity, affirmation, and chosen family.
