Improving quality of life and building strong communities is at the core of our Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors® outreach. We were proud to help our neighbors in Conoy Township celebrate a new edition – a wooden train – to the Arch Street Playground in Bainbridge, Pennsylvania. The new equipment was funded by a grant from the Perdue Foundation. “The Arch Street playground has been a community attraction for many years and serves the community by providing a safe and fun area for children and families to enjoy,” said Kevin Woleab, manager of the Perdue AgriBusiness crush facility in Bainbridge. “We’re happy to lend our support to the revitalization of the playground.”

Congratulations to our Chief Executive Officer Kevin McAdams who was honored by his alma mater, Iowa State University, with an Outstanding Alumni Award. These awards celebrate the university’s distinguished graduates and are a testament to the many incredible pathways unlocked by the school and its network. It also provided a full circle #PerdueProud moment as this is the second time in recent years we’ve seen our leaders celebrated at Iowa State. In 2019, our Chief Science Officer Bruce Stewart-Brown was also honored by the university. At Perdue Farms we are fortunate to have leaders like Kevin and Bruce who are dedicated to creating opportunities for all our current and future associates to learn, grow and thrive at the company. President, Perdue AgriBusiness

This morning, our team in Chesapeake, VA was proud to host Rep. Bobby Scott, Congressman for the 3rd District of Virginia, who delivered a $4 million grant to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to deepen the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River.   This event at our Chesapeake Deepwater Bulk Terminal commemorates a major step forward to enhance our vessel operations, and is the culmination of years of commitment by Congressman Scott, Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and our partners at Virginia Maritime Association, The Port of Virginia, and the US Army Corps of Engineers. This team’s partnership and dedication to wider, deeper, and safer channels in this area of Virginia are unmatched, and it was an honor to be a part of this investment in our economy.

Happy #NationalFarmersDay! Today and every day, we thank our incredible family farmers whose work and dedication help put meals on tables across the country. This week at our Animal Care Summit, we had the opportunity to hear from a panel of farmers and ranchers who sit on Perdue’s Farmers Council share their unique perspectives on farm life. Their insights and recommendations are invaluable to Perdue as we hope to inspire the next generation of farmers. #PerdueProud

Our 9th Annual Animal Care Summit is a wrap! This second day of open dialogue with animal care experts, farmers, and customers was a time to learn about important topics in the world of animal health and welfare.   The morning’s agenda included discussions on spacious and complex living environments to boost chickens’ health, dark meat’s flavor and health benefits, and an engaging overview of aerospace technology and its application in chicken houses. In the afternoon, attendees heard about the Gen Z consumer and their relationship with food, as well as the “chicken of tomorrow” and innovations that will ensure animal welfare while producing a quality product. The day closed with a presentation exploring the topic of “pasture-raised,” consumer confusion over its definition, and Perdue and Pasturebird's efforts to standardize the term, followed by an overview of Brake Farm, a North Carolina-based poultry learning center, and a panel discussion with our valued farmers who participate in Perdue’s Farmer Council.    Thank you for following along for this year's Animal Care Summit and supporting Perdue's journey of continuous improvement in animal welfare!
