On Tuesday, October 8th, Meade representatives Jennifer S. and Robert Bridgewaters attended the 2024 Manufacturing Day (MFG), an event sponsored by Three Rivers Manufacturers’ Association. MFG day brings manufacturing’s diversity and innovation under a single roof for students to explore and learn about the local manufacturing industry, while also exposing them to different career opportunities in the construction field and in the trades. More than 800 high school students were in attendance.

Let the excavator do the locating? It's a common topic that gets brought up in our industry. Specifically in this clip Angel Torres, Fred LeSage, Ted Troyner and Frank Bedtke talk about how contractors can use the same tactic utility owners use to avoid liability by subcontracting the locators themselves. While on the surface it sounds like it would fix a lot of problems with our system. However, the foundation of the idea has always been a bit unstable. We are so grateful for partners like the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 electricians, Powering Chicago, Meade and Walsh Construction Co. who went above and beyond to help a family in Englewood get power restored. Walsh sponsored this home and did significant work on National Rebuilding Day. A week later we got a call from the family sharing that there had been a small fire unrelated to event day and the power was no longer working. When Walsh, Meade, and Local 134 electricians heard the news, they made sure the power got restored. John Crilly Vice President at Meade Electric, said it well, "You just know it’s the right thing to do. Put yourself in their shoes. What if this was your grandfather without power? That’s kind of how we think about it." This is Chicago at its best. Coming together to ensure homeowners have a safe and healthy place to call home. We couldn't do this work without partners like these and so many others who go the extra mile to help families across Chicago and Cook County live in homes that are warm, safe, and dry. Thank you!
When a simple home repair turned into a challenging electrical emergency, Powering Chicago member contractor Meade Electric and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 134 electricians stepped up in a big way. What started as part of Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago's annual "Christmas in April" event became a months-long mission to restore power to a family's home in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. Facing unexpected challenges and potential hazards, these skilled professionals showcased their expertise, problem-solving abilities, and unwavering commitment to community service. "You just know it’s the right thing to do," says John Crilly, Vice President at Meade Electric. "Put yourself in their shoes - what if this was your grandfather without power? That's kind of how we think about it." Read the full story on our website to learn how Powering Chicago's member contractors and IBEW Local 134 electricians are making a real difference in our communities, one home at a time. https://lnkd.in/gjjXu8Ya #PoweringChicago #CommunityService #ElectricalSafety #UnionStrong #IBEWLocal134 #ChicagoElectricians

I have completed my 11 week internship this past summer working on the Stations RPM project with Meade. It was a summer filled with new experiences and opportunities to dive into the electrical side of the construction industry. A very interesting and rewarding project to be involved with. Millions of Chicago residents will benefit from this modernization of the red and purple line with the CTA. That will make public transit more efficient in one of the largest cities in the United States! I could not of picked a better company to work with. I am eternally grateful to be part of such a diverse and meaningful company. I want to thank my manger Brian Boyce and John Crilly for allowing me to grow professionally and personally in these short 11 weeks. Everyone go check out the work up in Edgewater, IL to see the progress of the largest CTA project to date! A big thanks to Meade for hosting our TRAFFIC CONTROL PRODUCTS, INC. and Q-Free controller and #signal software showcase this week - all while giving us a true, scrappy Chicago ‘back of the shop’ experience. It’s not every day you get a behind-the-scenes look at how everything comes together -- from the PO to shipping, installation, repairs, and more. Our training and Q&A session with the Illinois Department of Transportation District 1, and its six counties, was a major milestone and advancement for the area. It's personally rewarding to be part of the progress and change in both Kane County, Illinois, where I grew up, and Cook County Government, where I currently live. (Yes, I nerded out hard, found out the exact #intersections and can't wait to drive by and see how our system is working alongside other controllers, as well as a standalone with our controller and system ☁️🤓🚦). Thanks to everyone who participated and showed interest in our #controller, #MAXTIME software, and #KineticMobility central #traffic signal management system. It's exciting to know that our work is making a difference and will soon be added to the district's Qualified Product List. And let's not forget, Q-Free products are #BABA compliant – Build America, Buy America (shout-out to our amazing crew in Tucson!) AND our lead times are under 4 weeks (!!) We're also proud founders of the #FreetheMIBS movement (FREEtheMIBS), advocating for #competition and #innovation in the industry. Our Kinetic Mobility and Kinetic Signals systems seamlessly integrate with existing hardware - ensuring smooth operations without unnecessary updates, hardware installs or costs. Check it out and consider joining the movement: https://lnkd.in/gFfBMxTC “Effectively, change is almost impossible without industry-wide collaboration, cooperation, and consensus.” — Simon Mainwaring “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” — Henry Ford Big things are definitely on the horizon for IDOT D1! 🚦🚀 Stay tuned! #TrafficControl #Innovation #Collaboration #ProudMoment #IDOT #Chicago #ThisIsITS #Transportation #TrafficManagement #ITS #ATMS #ITE #Illinois #IllinoisTransportation #Traffic #trafficengineer #trafficsoftware #software #SaaS #wts #trafficengineering #TrafficSoftware #TMC #IDOT #QPL #mobilityxx #10in10 #womendrivenmobility #IIJA #BIL #IllinoisTransportation #BABAcompliant #BuildAmerica #BuyAmerica #TrafficController #QFree

In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Meade hosted a mental health training session led by a representative of the National Alliance of Mental Health - NAMI. Employees were instructed on how to better prioritize their well-being, recognize signs and symptoms of mental health breakdown, and they were given tips on how to better equip themselves to provide the right tools to care for their coworkers and their crews.
#NAMIChicago’s Workplace Wellness specialists recently held a training on the fundamentals of mental health for the staff at Meade. We enjoyed getting to meet their team, learning about their work and providing insights to support mental wellness in the workplace! #WorkplaceWellness
