National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) activities don't have to end in October! A couple things you can do to keep the conversation going for youth with disabilities: Share the "Guideposts for Success" The Guideposts for Success represent what research and practice has identified as key educational and career development interventions that make a positive difference in the lives of all youth, including youth with disabilities. NDEAM is a perfect time to introduce (or reinforce) these important findings to educators and youth service professionals. Channels for doing so might include workshops, trainings or staff publications. https://lnkd.in/ewk9tWxe Train front-line staff It is imperative that professionals have the knowledge, skills and abilities to effectively serve youth with disabilities, especially those in transition. Key tools to assist in improving this capacity—during NDEAM and all year round—are available through ODEP's CAPE-Youth Center for Advancing Policy on Employment for Youth. https://lnkd.in/eUqhmAzv #NDEAM #WorkforceDevelopment #GoodJobs

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month! We will share accessibility tips throughout the month. Courtesy of Office of Disability Employment Policy. Here are a few tips for making social media more accessible. - Write social media posts informally and in plain language. Avoid abbreviations and spell out acronyms. - Use @mentions to tag other organizations on social media and use relevant hashtags on keywords and phrases to categorize posts. - For multi-word hashtags, capitalize the first letters of each section of a compound word (#LikeThisExample). - Provide closed captioning for YouTube videos. You can do this automatically, or you can add and edit captions manually. What tips do you have? Learn more at dol.gov/NDEAM. #NDEAM
