Be Bold and Brave Early in your Career: Kathleen Shanahan is a Senior Advisor at Turtle, one of the nation’s top electrical distributors, and is a member of Foundation Risk Partners (FRP) Board of Directors. She is a prominent Florida businesswoman with a long and distinguished background in politics and public service. She has held top leadership positions in federal and state government for more than 40 years and recently shared some valuable insight to FRP's national workforce during a recent Town Hall meeting hosted by The Power Collective – FRP’s Women’s Resource Group. Here are just a few highlights from Kathleen’s presentation. “I’m a firm believer that you get your best ideas for how to improve your business from your own employees,” said Kathleen, “So it’s important to engage with others outside of your area and to not be afraid to ask questions. Share your ideas and be a listening participant as well." Kathleen said that the beauty of FRP is that not only do we empower team members to grow inside the company, with so many agency acquisitions, there are a growing number of people with diverse experiences and dynamic talent to learn from and develop professionally. "Women sometimes don't have the same confidence that men have, especially when they first start out, but it’s important to be brave and bold early in your career, and to take advantage of the opportunities that surround you in a great company, like FRP." “People can’t read your mind, so show interest and ask other women, and men, in leadership roles questions,” added Kathleen. “Investing time to create a learning environment through an employee resource group like The Power Collective allows team members to learn through nonhierarchical opportunities by connecting with others not necessarily in your regular chain of command.” The national FRP team greatly appreciated Kathleen’s shared knowledge, which was presented alongside fellow guest speakers, Mary Lawless and Alan Florez. We look forward to many more #ThePowerCollective Town Halls. #Leadership Discover many career opportunities at FoundationRP.com/Careers.

In the wake of Hurricane Helene and Milton, and any natural disaster, scam artists, identity thieves and other criminals often attempt to take advantage of disaster survivors. We encourage survivors to watch for and report any suspicious activity. If a FEMA inspector came to your home, or a phone call came in from FEMA, but you didn’t apply for FEMA assistance, call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362 to tell them that you did not apply. FEMA will stop all further processing for the application. Operators can assist if you wish to create a new application to apply for FEMA assistance. A fraudulent FEMA application could be a sign of identity theft. For information on responding to identity theft, visit Consumer Advice at the Federal Trade Commission at https://lnkd.in/grazjsCb. Criminal activity is becoming harder to detect as bad actors develop new schemes to fool unsuspecting victims. Do your best to verify any source that offers assistance and always safeguard your personal information. #StaySafe

Experts Speak With Conviction: Mary Lawless is Chief Operating Officer for the Southeast Region of Foundation Risk Partners and President/COO of Acentria Insurance, a Foundation Risk Partners Company. She’s been in the insurance industry for 34 years and recently shared some valuable insight to FRP's national workforce during last week’s Speaker Series Kick-Off of The Power Collective – FRP’s Women’s Resource Group. Here are just some highlights of what Mary said, who is indeed an expert in the industry. “I learned that in order to propel your career forward, you have to first become an expert in your field and then you can speak with authenticity and conviction of what you know and where you feel you're best suited in the company." said Mary. “Don't deviate from your moral compass, but learn to adapt to different people's working styles as you work towards finding your voice." Mary wrapped with the additional advice of being open to and embracing change, to expect to be a little uncomfortable with new adventures and to not sit back. "Put yourself in the conversation and be your best advocate." #Leadership #ThePowerCollective Follow Foundation Risk Partners for more inspiring wisdom from FRP Leadership and The Power Collective.
