The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center at The Fenway Institute and Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Medical Education will mark the 10th year of our annual Advancing Excellence in Transgender Health: A Course for the Whole Care Team conference when attendees convene in Boston October 25 – 27. Over 2,800 health care professionals have attended throughout the past 9 years, and another 300 attendees are expected this year. This year’s keynote will be delivered by Professor Alexander Chen, Founding Director of the LGBTQ+ Advocacy Clinic at Harvard Law School, where he also teaches Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation, and the Law. “We are thrilled to celebrate this 10th anniversary of the course, which has hosted attendees from every U.S. state and over 25 countries. We strive to remain at the forefront of education on advances in the exciting field of transgender and gender diverse health care,” said Alex Keuroghlian, MD, MPH, The Fenway Institute’s Director, Division of Education and Training. Governor Healey signed the Massachusetts Parentage Act that expands parental rights, including for LGBTQIA+ parents. Fenway Health and other organizations advocated for the bill, which updates guidelines for courts and families to make it easier for someone to legally qualify as a parent by addressing various ways that someone can become one, including through birth, adoption, marriage, surrogacy, and assisted reproduction, such as in-vitro fertilization. https://lnkd.in/eejhHnSp

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSAgov), HHS officials visited Fenway Health’s 1340 Boylston Street home August 8 to commemorate National Health Center Week. They met with Fenway leadership and toured the health center to learn more about our work and recent accomplishments.
