📣New Specific Annual Report: EU Agencies 📣 The majority of the 43 EU agencies managed their finances well in 2023. However, four agencies were not issued a clean opinion on how they spent EU money. In short: 📌All 43 EU agencies get a clean bill of health for good accounts and revenue in 2023 📌Four agencies are given a yellow card for their spending 📌Financing models for agencies collecting their own revenue need more clarity and transparency For the agencies which were not issued a clean opinion on their spending, this was due either to errors in grant management or irregularities found in procurement procedures or contract implementation. Agencies should pay particular attention to the rules laid down in the Financial Regulation, stress the auditors. 🔗 Find the full report below 👇 https://lnkd.in/eUR63zfw 📸 © European Union. 🗨️ “The EU must keep state aid in check in order to protect our internal market and ensure free and fair competition – even in times of crisis, Citizens need to be reassured that state aid is actually essential, and that short-term solutions do not ultimately harm our internal market.” - George Marius Hyzler, Member of the European Court of Auditors 🔗 Read the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/d4YuKWKx 📸 © European Union. 📣Special Report OUT NOW: State aid in times of crisis 🚨 🏭Since the COVID-19 crisis and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the European Commission has swiftly relaxed its state aid rules so as to enable EU countries to keep companies afloat, but does this hurt competition? Auditors found that: ⚙️The Commission acted swiftly to allow EU countries to grant unprecedented levels of state aid during recent crises ⚙️Efforts to monitor the aid member states gave to companies were scaled back ⚙️The need for state aid for EU industrial policy must be analysed better 🔗 Read the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/d4YuKWKx #StateAid #EconomicPolicy #COVID19Response #UkraineCrisis

🗨️ “Double funding is a misuse of EU funds and a waste of EU taxpayers’ money. And yet, the safeguards in place are largely insufficient. The RRF funding model was supposed to bring simplification. But simplification should not come at the cost of weakening the protection of the EU’s financial interests.” - Annemie Turtelboom, Member of the European Court of Auditors #EUbudget #DoubleFunding #EUauditors 📸 © European Union. 📝 A report published today by the European Court of Auditors raises a red flag about an increasing risk that #EUmoney could be handed out twice for the same action. 🌍💶 🟢 The €648 billion COVID recovery fund, the Recovery and Resilience Facility (#RRF), finances similar actions to standard EU programmes 🟢 The new mechanism, which breaks the link between funding and costs, has increased the risk of double funding 🟢 The checks in place are not fit to prevent and detect such cases 🔗 Read the full report 👇 https://lnkd.in/g-KfhksS #EUbudget #DoubleFunding #EUauditors
