The graph below was taken from our market intelligence database of over 350,000 new homes per year. It shows that in less than 2 years, the market share of ERVs in new construction in the Boston Metro area has gone from 15% to 75% (!!!). That's pretty remarkable. ERVs are more energy-efficient ventilation systems because they transfer heat between incoming and outgoing air while ventilating the home to provide fresh air. They also provide healthier indoor air because it's a balanced flow, air goes both in and out (with filtering). We are certain this would not have happened without HERS Ratings, the Mass Save new construction program, and MA energy code. 

It was fantastic to interact with so many colleagues in the green building space this week at the EEBA High Performance Home Builder Summit. Wonderful sessions and best practice sharing on building science, energy efficiency, GHG reduction and sustainable business practices in residential construction. It’s a great place to meet the thought leaders in the community trying to build better and more cost effectively. #EEBASUMMIT2024

We’re delighted to announce that RESNET's HERS H2O and EPA WaterSense programs are now available in beta in Ekotrope RATER! The HERS H2O program defines the calculation of the Water Rating Index. This index estimates the water consumption of a home relative to a reference home, as defined in ANSI 850-2020. To certify a home using the EPA WaterSense certification, a maximum Water Rating Index value must be guaranteed. Raters can simply conduct a water inspection in the house and input the relevant data into an Ekotrope building model. Ekotrope already provides solutions to build energy-efficient buildings.
