Are you OVER all the Halloween candy in your house? Each year Americans spend an estimated $3 billion on Halloween candy, the majority to be given out to 35 million trick-or-treaters. And about $400 million worth of purchased candy is wasted. Candy is just one source of food waste that can be given new life by getting funneled through our depackaging technology and then recycled into animal feed or compost. Thousands of grocery stores and food manufacturers participate in our recycling program to help the environment. #sustainability #foodwate #circulareconomy #depackaging

As we commemorate 10 years in organics recycling, we’re more committed than ever to deliver on our mission to replenish the earth by repurposing waste. Last year alone, our organic recycling efforts produced enough natural fertilizer to support more than 100,000 acres of farmland and manufactured enough animal feed to nourish over 40,000 cattle across five states. Scary fact: Over one billion pounds of pumpkins end up in landfills every year. The rest are sold as fresh produce, often featured as jack o’ lanterns for Halloween, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Here are some ideas on what to do with those left over pumpkins: https://bit.ly/4fnbRSX. Pumpkins are among the unsaleable produce we recycle into compost every day from grocery stores and food manufacturers: https://bit.ly/4fjLRs9 #sustainability #foodwaste #zerowaste #circulareconomy

On World Sustainability Day, we're proud to announce that in 2023, we recycled 14 billion pounds of organic wastes and byproducts, keeping them out of landfills. We also recycled 1.7 billion pounds of food waste, avoiding over 850,000 tons of CO₂e emissions, which is the equivalent to the emissions from 202,000 gasoline-powered vehicles driven for one year. #sustainability #zerowaste #circulareconomy

On National Cat Day we’re celebrating the unused pet food we process into valuable feed for fish farms, poultry and swine instead of piling up in landfills. Denali has recycled pet food that is the equivalent of the weight of 100 million cats! And while Chewy here doesn’t miss a meal, recycling unsold, and unused pet food is among many organic materials Denali converts into beneficial animal feed. Our organics recycling also provides a lower cost alternative to traditional animal feed sources and helps reduce demand for land and water resources needed to produce feed crops. #sustainability #zerowaste #foodwaste #nationalcatday
