  • Repost from Jesuits West • On August 27, Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School (CRJS) welcomed its inaugural class of ninth graders to the new school. CRJS will provide a career-focused, college preparatory education for students with limited economic resources. The school’s innovative educational model is based on students working one day per week in paid, entry-level professional jobs to underwrite the cost of their education. Students benefit from job training skills, professional development, mentorship and, perhaps most importantly, becoming part of a nurturing community devoted to their success. The excitement continued the next day as the students attended Draft Day, where they learned which of the school’s 19 corporate and nonprofit partners would be their employer for the academic year. The event, which featured a brass band and was emceed by a local sportscaster, was held at Seattle University’s Pigott Auditorium. Students, family members, work-study partners and CRJS employees packed the theater. • Head to the link below to read the full article from Jesuits West. Thank you, Jesuits West, for writing such a thoughtful article about our school! We truly appreciate your support in sharing these important moments with our community. https://lnkd.in/gSc3bRvC

  • Last week, we celebrated a powerful and historic moment at Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle - our first Mass of the Holy Spirit, led by Provincial Fr. Sean Carroll, SJ, of Jesuits West. For 475 years, Jesuit schools around the world have opened their academic year with this tradition, and we are proud to continue it here. During the Mass, our students, staff, board members, and parents were missioned for the year ahead, committing to the work of upholding Ignatian values and forming our students into people for others. Thank you to everyone who attended, and a special thanks to Fr. Carroll for joining us and for his inspiring homily.

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School (CRJS) by employing four students through the Corporate Work Study program. CRJS is a college preparatory school attended by low-income students, and the Corporate Work Study program helps fund the cost of education and provide students with real-world work experience. Our students will join us for the whole school year, and we look forward to supporting them in their professional development!

PACCAR recently became a Corporate Partner of Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School (CRJS). CRJS exclusively serves students who desire a college prep education but could not otherwise afford it. CRJS believes all students, regardless of family income, should have access to high-quality education. Students from CRJS will participate in the Corporate Work Study Program at PACCAR where they will learn valuable real-world work experience that will prepare them for success in college and in careers. #WeArePACCAR #CristoReyJesuitSeattle

  • Repost from Northwest Catholic • Pom-poms waved. Thundersticks clacked. Hoots and hollers reverberated. There was even a brass band playing “When the Saints Go Marching In.” But this wasn’t game day. It was draft day — Corporate Work Study Draft Day For 63 ninth graders from Seattle’s newest Catholic high school — Cristo Rey Jesuit Seattle High School — it was the day to find out where they’d be working five days a month. Unlike most high schoolers, they will spend at least one day a week out of the classroom and in a professional work environment. 📸: Stephen Brashear • Head to the link below to read the full article from Northwest Catholic on our Draft Day event. A huge thank you to them for covering our special day! https://lnkd.in/g_c9VzsR
