#NewGlenn’s GS1 is on the move! Our transporter comprises two trailers connected by cradles and a strongback assembly designed in-house. There are 22 axles and 176 tires on this transport vehicle. It’s towed by an Oshkosh M1070, a repurposed U.S. Army tank transporter, with 505 horsepower and 1,825 pound-feet of torque. Seems fitting we’ve named it GERT -- Giant Enormous Rocket Truck. The distance between GERT’s front bumper and the trailer's rear is 310’, about the length of a football field. It’s a 23-mile, multiple-hour journey to our pad because we have to take the long way around.

Another step toward advancing science and making space accessible to all 🚀
SERA is delighted to announce a partnership with Weill Cornell Medicine and University of Austin (UATX) to design and execute our upcoming science experiment competition on the Blue Origin #newshepard rocket. The competition will allow members of the public to both propose and vote for experiments that explore issues relating to the effects of micro-gravity on human cell structure and the challenges of experimenting with fluids in space. Thank you to Eliah Overbey and Christopher Mason for spearheading this exciting program to open up space research to everyone on the planet. https://lnkd.in/diMG6Vfg

Great job by the engineering, operations and engine teams on the installation (here is another view.) The seven #BE4 engines in this image will deliver more than 3.8 million pounds of thrust for #NewGlenn. Three of the seven engines gimbal to provide the control authority for New Glenn during ascent, re-entry, and landing on Jacklyn, our recovery vessel downrange at sea. That gimbal capability, along with the landing gear and Reaction Control System thrusters, are key to making our booster fully reusable. Fun fact: The vehicle's max design gimbal condition is during ascent when it has to fight high-altitude winds.
