Heathcare for All. Advocacy for the Underserved.

About us

Asian Health Services, founded in 1974, provides health, social, and advocacy services for all regardless of income, insurance status, immigration status, language, or culture. Our approach to well-being focuses on "whole patient health", which is why besides primary care we also provide mental health, case management, nutrition, and dental care to more than 27,000 patients in English and over 12 Asian languages: Cantonese, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer, Korean, Tagalog, Mien, Lao, Mongolian, Karen, Karenni, and Burmese. We offer medical, dental, and mental health services for all ages. We also recognize that a patient's health is directly linked to their social and economic circumstances. That's why we are dedicated advocates, and we fight for legislation that make our communities a safer and healthier place to live.

San Francisco Chronicle’s recently highlighted Asian Health Services’ efforts to address the gap in mental health professionals serving Asian Americans by sending staff to the Lay Counseling Academy (LCA). “Asian Health Services is a part of a fledgling movement trying to address a dire shortage of therapists by training community health workers and other non-licensed professionals who have trusted relationships with their communities to add mental health counseling to their roles,” shared San Francisco Chronicle. “Asian Health Services (AHS) is applying the principles of the LCA training to better support immigrant and refugee communities. Concern for victims of violence who struggle to access mental health care was the key motivation behind their involvement.” To date, Asian Health Services now has 43 multilingual staff trained in lay counseling serving our community in 14 languages. 📢 🗳️"YES on Proposition 35!" says Kimberly S.G. Chang, MD, MPH, Asian Health Services Family Physician and Director of Human Trafficking and Healthcare Policy. “This will help health centers like mine at Asian Health Services, which serve patients lacking transportation, those who don’t speak English well, individuals facing poverty, and those experiencing trauma, chronic illnesses, community violence, and social isolation.” shares Dr. Chang. “They truly need your support across California. Our patients need this help, I need this help, and YOUR vote can enable us to continue our work.” shares Dr. Kimberly Chang. This vital proposition protects Medi-Cal and ensures health centers like Asian Health Services can continue to serve our most vulnerable patients. YES on Prop 35, keeps clinics funded and open for millions of Medi-Cal patients across California. Together, we can ensure no one is left behind. #YesOnProp35 #HealthcareForAll #CommunityHealthCenter #Vote
