With an extensive nursing career spanning over 45 years, Brenda Atkinson continues to contribute to her community in many ways. Balancing part-time work in adult day health, she dedicates her free time to volunteering for a program that delivers meals and supplies to the unhoused people of Greater Lowell and serves a member of the Lowell Coalition for the Homeless. We’re thrilled to highlight Analene DeLeon, AgeSpan’s Facilities Manager, in our October Employee Spotlight! Thank you for all you do, Analene! 🙌 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲? I’ve worked at AgeSpan for six years. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐚 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞? As the Facilities Manager, “typical” is only a guideline. Every day is different, so being light on your feet is typical. Collaborating with multiple departments is the norm. I oversee the facilities at both sites in Lawrence and Danvers and may travel as needed. I oversee tasks such as security systems and building access; emergency preparedness such as fire extinguisher and AEDs servicing; onboarding and offboarding staff; maintaining various onsite and off-site inventories; coordinating purchases and deliveries; corresponding with vendors; responding to general and emergency maintenance requests; facilitate event support; monitor various installations and participate in space planning projects. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐛? The best parts are my peers, the leadership, and the culture. In life, you’re lucky to have one person you work alongside who inspires you, but to have dozens of peers/leaders who are role models is a blessing. AgeSpan is unique in that way. It motivates you to be the best version of yourself. This influences the level of quality I strive for in my work daily. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐧? There have been training and certification opportunities, and the ability to take on new tasks and responsibilities. I have been able to build new relationships internally and externally, collaborate with other teams, and volunteer in other areas of the agency. , relationship/partnership building internally/externally, collaboration with other teams, and volunteer opportunities in other areas across the agency. Most of all, I am empowered to envision my own path for growth. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 #𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮? Healthy Aging encompasses attention to nutrition, exercise, and cognitive well-being. It’s advocating for yourself, and the ability to make choices freely. It’s remaining hopeful and positive when breaking down barriers or hitting roadblocks, and it means being hopeful and resilient when all these areas evolve over time. #AgeSpan #HealthyAging

Thank you to everyone who supported our Second Annual Power of Pets fundraiser at BareWolf Brewing– our incredible hosts! We’d also like to give a shout out to Adam McCauley for leading our Power of Pets bingo game, and congratulate our raffle winners, who took home beautiful and generously donated gift baskets! The proceeds of this event will help older adults, aged 65 and above, with the cost of routine pet care, pet food, and fostering when necessary for those needing a medical procedure and have no one to care for their pet. If you couldn't join us and would like to support Power of Pets, follow the link below to make your donation today. https://ow.ly/28Er50TBjww Thank you again, and we hope to see everyone, and a few more, too, again next year! 🐾 #PowerofPets #AgeSpan #HealthyAging #Amesbury #ThankYou

Our Resident Service Coordinator (RSC) program aims to combat social isolation and loneliness by regularly organizing events at different housing sites. Last week, in honor of "Good Neighbor’s Day," Ellie Zwart, an AgeSpan RSC, hosted a year-end cookout at the Heritage House in Newburyport. More than 40 residents attended and enjoyed live music, an on-site ice cream truck, a pop-up farmer's market from Nourishing from the North Shore, and delicious burgers, hot dogs, and pasta salad. Here's to a great day! #AgeSpan #GoodNeighborsDay #Newburyport #HertiageHouse #endlonelinessma #GND2024
