Last night’s #LDMicro #MoneyBallParty was nothing short of spectacular! A huge thank you to Chris Lahiji, LD Micro, Money Channel NYC, and Goliath Resources Limited for hosting an unforgettable evening. The energy was through the roof, especially as we all celebrated the Los Angeles #Dodgers clinching the World Series in an exciting game against the New York #Yankees – what a night! The Final Quarter: Reflecting on Two Decades Focused on Health and Longevity Data When people ask me what I do, I tell them I’m the CEO of Abacus Life (ABL), the only publicly traded global alternative asset manager focused on lifespan-based financial products. That doesn’t mean a lot to most people. But really what do I do? Well, I spend a lot of time looking at and thinking about massive data sets about people’s final quarter of life. How should we prepare for longer lives? What factors consistently increase quality of life in later years? How can we structure our finances to better support us throughout our lifespan? And what can I do now that will tangibly impact the future? Over the past two decades, I have learned more than I ever thought possible about the reciprocal intersection of health and longevity and financial planning. We started as a small house fund in the mid-90s focused on purchasing life insurance policies, we are now the leading innovator in lifespan-based financial planning and asset management. And as we built the business, the same macro data we compiled to give us an edge in the market also gave us incredible, accurate and frankly near universal insight into the correctable mistakes made so often in late stage financial planning and late stage health and wellness. We’ve used the data to build our business, but we now want to begin sharing insights from our journey, and highlight issues around financial security and lifespans, informed by the lessons, data, and information we’ve learned at Abacus. Society is facing an unprecedented reality: people are living longer than ever before, but that longevity does not necessarily equate to a vibrant, healthy, stress-free existence in our later years. And it requires actionable solutions, informed by real, unbiased, vetted and stress-tested data. As most of you reading this are aware, there is an unending stream of “wellness” content pushed at all of us daily. And while most of it is harmless, most of it is also – broadly speaking – useless. Because of Abacus’ decades of data and the proprietary algorithms we’ve built to analyze the data, we have an in-depth, nuanced perspective on what actually drives health, financial, quality of life, and mortality outcomes. And we are not selling anything. We have the data and insights, and we believe people should be armed with the same knowledge. In this ongoing series, we will share more about new research, informed insights, and practical strategies that fall at this unique intersection of longevity, health and financial planning.
