As I have said on many occasions, ‘there is always plenty of time, it just depends on how you make best use of it.’ So whilst timing is key, experience is everything when judging how to make those difficult decisions which focus on urgency and what truly is a priority.

As a healthcare manager, balancing time between demanding clients can be challenging. To effectively meet their needs, we need to prioritize tasks based on urgency & importance, implement a robust scheduling system & stick to it as much as possible, communicate clearly with clients about realistic timelines & expectations & delegate tasks when appropriate to ensure efficient use of resources. Being proactive in addressing potential issues before they escalate while learning to say no to unreasonable requests. Addressing clients' core concerns efficiently & regularly reassessing & adjusting strategies to maintain a high level of service without burning out. Maintaining own well-being is crucial to providing quality care for all clients.

If you have worked for a bad leader, you likely already understand why good leadership matters. Good leadership can make the difference between enjoying your job and tolerating your job. Therefore I believe a team is only as good as its leader. Leaders help their team understand the need for change and how and why roles and responsibilities may be impacted. In this context delegation is a key skill. By providing clear instructions and support one can manage the challenges experienced during times of uncertainty; also gain that all important ingredient, ‘team loyalty.’ This way you can achieve that major advantage with the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. Quite simply any attempt at effective customer service will fail without the trust that is built from timely communication. Remember, you are providing the service, therefore you are the expert. To provide anything other than first rate processes and meeting all expected timelines should be a given. There will of course be exceptions, but these should be extremely rare and easily dealt with, resulting in minimum time spent on clarification of what has gone wrong and more on detailed explanation as to how the matter has been resolved.
