If you don’t know these things, do some research on climate and sustainability issues in your home town. You might be surprised by what you find and what moves you to act.

It’s important to demonstrate your knowledge of the field as well so being able to ask your interviewer questions about these trends can signal that you are a forward thinker. You can also ask more about the customers or population they serve, perhaps if they’ve gotten feedback and how they’ve implemented that feedback. Finally, a question I always like to ask in any interview is what would success look like for this role within the first 90 days. It gives me something concrete to follow up on that shows the hiring team I was listening and have oriented my plans for the first 90 days with what they would expect to see.

During the interview's conclusion, seize the opportunity to ask insightful questions, reflecting your research and enthusiasm. Inquire about the company's sustainability strategy, main challenges, role expectations, or team culture to demonstrate engagement and interest. Avoid generic or personal queries, focusing instead on topics relevant to the role and company, which underscores your preparedness and suitability for the position.

You may ask further about purpose , company may have integrated sustainability in their purpose I.e key purpose driven activities , ask about more insights where you may integrate your strengths that good fit with organizational purpose.

Ask smart, very industry specific questions. Eg make an example you have encountered in specific situation, find out if they have experienced that - if yes : the conversation goes to - " how are you/ did you overcome that?. And if the answer is leads you down a rabbit hole of how they have not overcome that problem.... there a clear opportunity for you there..... highlight what you have actively done to overcome a similar challenge, it highlights your thinking process, your experience and showcases your skills...

Sustainability should be a way of living from now on for all of us. When getting a position in this field, you must understand that you are not only having a job, but also you are contributing to the well-being of all of us.
