As an engineer by degree and now a marketer by profession, the most crucial aspect that I worked on first was to adapt. Adapt to changing markets, new trends and also way of working. Adapting in a fast paced environment is not easy but keeping 3 things mind makes the journey to adapt to new situations very much fun - Ask questions, Be proactive & Keep trying new ways and things to accomplish to certain task.

While dealing with marketing enthusiasts it's important to give room for creativity, interns come with a fresh perspective and optimistic nature, so one should deal with them in a nice way and share constructive criticism for their growth and betterment. Also, brainstorming and discussions should be part of all internships, to allow peers to discuss and find unique solutions to various problems.

During my marketing internships at George Mason University and 3Folks Media, I learned that networking is essential for career growth. Similarly, at 3Folks Media, I built relationships with clients and industry contacts, which opened doors for future opportunities. Communication is one of the most important skillsets for anyone in any aspect of life. When it comes to communication it's important to be clear in what we are communicating and to retain open lines of communication. Keep consistent lines of communication with your team members and management. Make sure your communication is clear and not vague. For example, one might say, "here's that report for your client you requested from the other day." It's best to be specific. For example, "Hi Frank, here is the January 2024, Website Analytics Report for your client "ABC Company" you requested when we met via phone call last Wednesday, Feb. 6th. I call it, "including the who, what, when, how, where, and why". Best Wishes!

The best thing about internships is that both you and the company get to do a “trial run”, that means that you get to observe and see what communication styles executives in the company are utilizing, and see if they fit with your communication style. You can learn from the executives that inspire you. Pay close attention to what sparks an interest in you, seek out those projects and ask lots of questions to learn all you can. The company will pick up on your authenticity and enthusiasm when they connect with you and that is a guarantee win-win for both sides.

The communication is the key to your success as an intern. The intern should be having a good communication with all the team members or colleagues. As you will listen more you will learn the professional ethics of communication and how you can have a good communication with all. Try to be specific on your talks and be clear on your sayings. Try to be the person who listens to everyone and does his best.

Practice your presentation skills, pay attention to your body language, and learn to listen actively. This will not only help you in team meetings and client pitches but also in understanding assignments and executing them successfully. Always aim for clarity, brevity, and impact in your communications.

Strong communication skills are the backbone of success in marketing. As an intern, honing your ability to express ideas clearly and confidently sets you up for impactful contributions. Creativity can be applied to all aspects of life and is certainly an important part of marketing. I'd even go so far as to say that without "creativity", marketing would not exist. One creative marketing campaign can lead a startup company from 0 to $1M in no time. Especially when it comes to viral marketing and the rate at which media travels on the web.  Failure and bad ideas are going to happen and are better than no creative ideas at all. It's important to take chances and test our creative ideas and an internship is a great opportunity to share our ideas and get feedback from the pros. Best Wishes!

Creativity in the workplace leads to a faster generation of ideas. Involving your peers to review your work helps you continually develop your skills. Creativity shouldn't rely on luck. To master it, practice it daily in various settings such as at church or in your community. Practicing daily will ensure that you are always ready to produce high-quality work.

Time management is essential, especially in the business world. Time management is a skill that permeates all aspects of marketing. From timely meetings with clients to delivering results within projected time frames. In the digital realm with social media and so many companies working to capture our time it's important to remain on focus and not get lost within the infinite scroll. This is why project and task management tools are so effective, especially with juggling multiple complex projects. You can track your tasks and time it takes to complete them. Also keeping a personal calendar and journal to see how effective you are when you're working is a great way to set a benchmark and goals to work towards. Best Wishes!

Addition to the time management, setting mile-stones for your internship can be extremely helpful for you and your manager. Milestones help you set expectation on what can and cannot be achieved in the internship. It also helps you have an avenue to get feedback from your manager and pivot and recalibrate and ensured you are aligned on the goal of the internship from the beginning.

Managing your time wisely is not always an easy task, but if you commit to using calendars, reminders, and events, you can stay in sync with your daily responsibilities.

Time management as an intern is also a major point of your job because it will show your professionalism and will create a good impact on your colleagues. You can use google calenders to schedule things and also you can make small chunks of tasks to make clear goals. This will help you in managing time in your works.

For me, as a CEO and a founder of a Digital Marketing Company of over 13 years I have learned a lot about feedback. When it comes to running marketing campaigns, the feedback is shown in the analytic reports and this is a crucial aspect of success in marketing. As without the feedback of how well (or not well) a campaign has done, one will struggle with creating effective campaigns. So too is feedback crucial for career performance and advancement, especially when it comes to a marketing internship. Consistent feedback helps to keep one on track while making incremental improvements and adjustments which will ultimately lead to a successful internship and a head-start in an amazing career.
