Your video director has a bold vision, but your team lacks technical expertise. How will you bridge the gap?

by taking small meetings involving director me and my team to discuss vision. that could solve the problem, or myself try to delivery director's approach and vision by discussing vision with director after that delivering that to my team in easy way

ignore them, whatever they want is wrong. Call them stupid during the first meeting and angrily storm out of the room crying.

split the team up into groups 1. some can try to research the most important techniques we don't have, 2. others can look at work around and 3. lastly look to see if there's a budget to add someone who has what we need. My preference is always to find the workaround or simply create our own way into meeting that goal, Many film crews created new ways of doing things from household items Evil Dead & Starwars and then also the guys at Weta are an inspiration.

Don’t limit yourself to one team or a small group. Create a network of people/creatives who are capable and excel in different areas.

I would create a study plan. First things first. What’s the priority? After analyzing carefully, once I have understood my team and identified not only areas of weaknesses but those of strengths, I would identify the skills that I’m needing for my particular project wether is a show or a film. Taking into consideration how much time we have, I would start by making sure they are aware of what’s happening. Aware of our needs as a team. I would make sure our bonds as human beings get solidified so we can trust each other’s abilities and encourage and support one another. From here, I would create a plan of study based on home work, so they can complete small projects that would help them grow that skill most needed from each individual.

Training? Maybe playing with model trains, absolutely no hotwheel track garbage, it's some plastic u channel garbage it isn't a track!!

Outsourcing is not a dirty word. I feel like as creatives we get in our heads about doing everything ourselves so that we can own the final product and be proud of it but ultimately sometimes you will come across something you can’t do, due to a lack of experience or knowledge. That doesn’t mean it’s not doable and that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try to achieve it, but it does mean you will need to get help from someone else. If someone else isn’t in the budget, then there are always templates that can subsidize what you’re trying to do and as an added bonus that saves you time and effort in the long run cause you can reuse those assets

Yeah, how about just hire a better client! Or maybe someone who specializes in model trains and other train based technologies.

You want enough space between the model trains on the track, especially if you are using the kind that have like batteries inside the motors where you can't easily control speed and separation .
