Rossco quite often works on the continent, supplying sound systems at lovely private parties, often involving A list acts. Away from home, there is always the danger of equipment failure or an unexpected swerve-ball leaving you struggling to deliver the contract obligations. I don’t agree with lining up alternative suppliers, as I find this deceitful, and I hate Rossco being used in this way. I use a local supplier near the party location for a proportion of the supply, perhaps some less specialised elements of the inventory. By doing this, they become partners, fully invested in your successful delivery, and local support should you need it.

To salvage the upcoming event, I would quickly explore alternative vendors, adjust the event timeline if possible, and communicate with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition and minimize disruption.

Depending on the type of event or client, if my vendor can’t accommodate the new schedule, I’ll tap into my network of event contacts or put out a call on social media, as I’ve found that usually gets quick results.

I completely agree with this. A good network is crucial in all business situations as it helps streamline everything. Every new person you connect with, you gain access to their network and so on!

Do a vendor tribute. Ask the vendor if they can supply product or merch and then hire staff to manage those sales. This past weekend a popular musician did a pop up at our local farmers market. The line to buy was across the park. She didn’t make an appearance, but her merch was definitely the star of the day.

Check all options: Is it possible to NOT change the previous planning and stay with the original event plan? Is there any way to find another date where both of you have time? Is there any alternative vendor you could ask for this date.
